Unknown Unpictured cone top?

#1

Post by Leon »

Looking through the Book I see 12 different Heileman's Old Style Low Profile Cone Tops. BUT, I don't see this variation. Mine is a STRONG Beer, Not over 5% by Weight. I see a similar can listed #177-10 but this can is Concaved Bottom & Raised Ribs. My can is a Flat Bottom Inverted Ribbed cone. I see it in Strong & NO 5% but not Strong NO5%. Is this a tougher Variation? LEON.

The can comes both flat boom and concave bottom. Each has a canning code of 4-11-B so it makes sense that when they stopped using the flat bottom, they finished up what they had with concave bottoms. There was a big find of the flat bottoms at some point - usually in 2+ shape - and they are readily obtainable. The concave can is another matter. I have a dumper of that one. Matt

How come not pictured in the book? The find must of happened after Book came out. Guess I'll have to check the Supplement. THANKS, LEON.

I have both the flat and concave variations. I'll go with whatever Matt says as to the relative rarity of the two. Maybe Neil K has additional insight on this one...
