Was Canadian Ace Sold in New England??

#1

Post by DaveNH » Fri Nov 30, 2018 11:00 am

A Canadian Ace Ale quart just popped out of my acid bucket from a dump in NW Maine and it got me thinking that I've dumped both the beer flat top and cone top but never ales or the ale quart. Was wondering if anyone knows if the quart was sold in Maine? Thanks for any thoughts.

Thanks. Dave

Mr. Lang and I found two Ale flats (IRTP, no less) in a barn in NW Maine. Sold probably briefly and not much... not sure where the quarts went. I'd guess the upper Midwest since the Ale quarts also come in "Strong."
Better to drive 950 miles and kick asz than go a thousand miles and get nothing.

Bob and Andy found the Ale IRTP flats last year, and I also found at least one IRTP Ale many years ago, so at least early on it seems that Canadian Ace Ale was sold in Maine.

I was always under the impression after finding what we did in North VT in the late 80's that from there east was the dumping ground for ale brands that didn't seem to sell well in the places they were brewed. BUT, can anyone tell me if any Ballantine Ale O/I was found in north ME ? I was also under the impression that starting post war Ballantine slowly moved in, but not before. Pre-war NE dumps in the ale belt can be epic.

BB:

I've dumped Bally Ale OI's on numerous occasions in NW ME, BUT not any Bally Beer OI's.
Thanks. Dave

Curious I think that the "Beer" comes IRTP in a cone (rare, yes, but it exists) but only Non-IRTP in a flat. Then at the same time the "Ale" comes IRTP in a flat (rare, yes, but it exists), but only Non-IRTP in a cone. Does this makes any sense? Matt

Not that I have one, but they do list an IRTP beer flat in the book (48-8) that appears legit (has the blue on the shield).
