Found these Falstaff cans out of Cranston with stamp on lid to be a bit odd; any thoughts?

There are quite a few of those around. They must have been used a lot in the southeast part of the US, because they seem to appear a lot on 14 oz. cans. Maybe the armed forces had some sort of deal with a brewer or two on that oddball size??
