pricing help....
Ran into this Schlitz cone at a rummage sale with a few other flats. What is it worth? The guy wants me to make him an offer and won't give me a base price. This was the only can I wasn't sure of what to offer. Any help on this would be appreciated. I don't collect Schlitz so I would be reselling this can so that should figure into its value. Is the book price even close these days?

Re: pricing help....
That looks like a really clean example.
USBC price for that is $135.00
I've seen those sell from anywhere between $200.00 to $400.00 when they are clean like that.
I would show him the book if possible and start from the $135.00 book value.

Re: pricing help....
I sold mine for $395 or $495 not long ago, it's was only slightly better & mint 1+. I had 3 different ones so can't remember which ones got what. Maybe offer $200 & should get $300 or more easy. LEON.
P.S. Yours has no Alcohol % statement. not sure if thats a tougher variation or not?

Re: pricing help....
FWIW, I would buy that can from you, for $280 PayPal Friends and Family. No ebay fees etc.
If you want a quick turn around, offer less and flip it to me. Just saying!!

Re: pricing help....
That can is only dirty. That will clean up like a new penny. Since it's just a rummage sale, offer him a $100 for it and see his reaction. Have at least another $100 on you if you need to go higher to land the can. Like it was previously stated, have the book with you so it shows that it's not some holy grail can. You really shouldn't have to pay full market value(or anything near that) for a can of this nature coming from a rummage sale, unless it's some crazy label that you've been waiting forever to land. Good Luck!!!! That's gonna be a great example of one of the early classics!!!! Woody

Re: pricing help....
Not that tough but those Schlitz low pros always do pretty well on ebay when clean like that, I would agree getting it for anything under $200 and you should turn a nice profit.
Sort of off topic but for Conehead or others who would know how tough are the concave bottom Schlitz Lagers? I don't think I have ever seen one available, USBC doesn't seem to think it is any tougher than this Vitamin D.

Re: pricing help....
Yes, Schlitz Lager concave bottom are much tougher than the Vitamin D's. The USBC doesn't give them much love. When you do see them, they are usually in off grade/dumper condition.ConeAddict wrote: ↑Fri Jul 13, 2018 11:28 amSort of off topic but for Conehead or others who would know how tough are the concave bottom Schlitz Lagers? Re: pricing help....
I would offer something that is commensurate with what ever other cans you are buying. If the “other” cans are tabs for example I would offer around $100. If the “other cans” are nice cones and flats too you will have to come much stronger. The guy obviously doesn’t know what it is worth and wants you to basically bid yourself up. It is at a rummage sale so NOBODY pays more than a few pennies on the dollar for ANYTHING.
Flip side is: Don’t get too cute to where you screw the whole deal up...lol

Re: pricing help....
Well picked this up yesterday. Ended up offering him $100 and the seller was very pleased to take it. I made the seller's day. Probably could have gotten it for half that but it was good for the Karma to not get too greedy.
SOOOOOOO.......after listening to everyone's input I listed it at a price I felt was VERY high on ebay.
$500 opening bid
$750 buy it now.
I did not expect it to sell at that price.......it was gone 10 minutes after I posted it at the buy it now price of $750.....I basically owned the can for about 45 minutes before it was sold and made $650 dollars.
That was a good day.
Hope the rest of the flats I bought sell as well when they get listed.

Re: pricing help....
Surprised it went for that much, someone must have really wanted it badly. I paid $275 for mine a few years back and thought it could fetch $350.
Kudos to you sir.

Re: pricing help....
Seems a little crazy high to me too. Then again, condition brings a premium these days for sure. And this one was very clean.
$650 before $97 in ebay/paypal fees of course. Still a good day!!

Re: pricing help....
When I listed all 3 of my mint Schlitz together for $1,000 opening bid. I got no bid. That would of been $333 each. SO, I relisted them 1 at a time. Got 1 bid at $495, another 1 bid at $495 & 1 bid at $395. So, I got about $1,400 selling them separate. Guess I should of tried the buy it now for $750 trick but I wasn't even sure if I'd get a bid at my high $495 opening bid

Re: pricing help....
Wow!...I knew you would do well. Condition and a can hinting at health benefits. I'd take that over a rare plain Scliitz.cool can!

Actually ebay has a 50% off final sale fees sale going on right now if the sale is over $500.....So timing was not bad apparently.OhioCanGuy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 10:19 pm Seems a little crazy high to me too.
