Thanks JustJoe, cannot wait to see your next reveal.
Here’s a great example of yellowing- zoinkss had partially rubbed this one revealing some strange coloring along the seam. These No Opener Needed cans needed an opener- Ziphippie

Most of the cans I've rubbed that had white on them were like a cream white. Might be from being primed over.....

It’s enamel- the canning code number looked blue in theBay pics, I was hoping for a VolksBrau. Still very happy with it, drank Tahitian Treat because the can was so cool. Ziphippie

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
These are the most difficult rubouts I’ve come across. I’m not starting with a pristine example of a Denver either, maybe next time. Started out really rough with pre-existing flaking opposite of the seam, can’t use any painters tape or half the can would stick. No power tools. It takes forever to get through the white base coat/primer, then one swipe through the red metallic. Many hours with the q-tips again. Ziphippie

I'm right there with you. Working a Denver with an orange under it. If I look at the metallic the wrong way it flakes off. Weird with the 2 different CCC plant numbers. 40 is Omaha, 29 is Denver.

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
I feel you bro. I can appreciate the effort you put into them, they are very cool ! It's one of those cans that makes you ask yourself, why the hell am I doing this ? We all would rather post the ones that come out really nice, but the paintover reality is they don't. That's one of the attributes of paintovers, you don't always know what's under the original label and how tough/challenging it will be to get it cleaned up,there always different !hover31 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 1:55 am These are the most difficult rubouts I’ve come across. So I tip my hat to you hover31. Thanks for posting.
Here are some pics of a can I did,not long after I started to do rubouts. Had a boat load of time in it and thinking where did I go wrong. Didn't take me long to figure out that, that's how it is in this game.

Finished this up today. Started to see yellow when I started to get through the primer, and thought another soda can. But than the dark blue started to show.

No joke in that Jolly Good would make sense I guess. The Jolly Good was under the Rhinelander which was repainted before it got a bottom lid.JustJoe wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 9:20 pmI forgot about the jokes in the bottom ! Would have been cool to drink a Rhinelander and see:

I've had a couple and all have been pre war standard high pro Falstaffs. They have a thin coat of gray primer under the paper label. Yours appears to be the same by the coloring around the bottom rim.
Here is one that I did.
I shall leave no cone unturned!!

Very nice! I figured there had to be a U-tab version out there. Anyone do one that's a generation 1-2 zip? Last one I tried had a Diet Pepsi under it.

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
So if it's a paintover I'm not sure you can claim the top variation, right? The top was for the can that was sold, not for the can that is underneath.hover31 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 3:31 pm -got a Black Label from Boardman this week on Rusty Bunch Advertise. I finally found the u-tab Malt Lager!

I don't think my logic applies to the Malt Lager can because I think they were all zips. Does the top say "Lift Ring" or "Lift Tab"? I consider the Lift Tab a ziptab and the Lift Ring a pulltab.
I also always argue with the term "U-Tab" (because I'm anal that way). That term was patented back in 1963 to describe the ziptab that was shaped like a "U", not the top that looked like a slot instead of the traditional zip opening.
I'm not knocking Bjorn's @hover31 find, I just thought it's worth a friendly conversation.

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
For me, and it's the definitions I used with the CO composite, the U-tab is the zip with the "Lift Tab and Pull" wording. The "Lift Ring and Pull" wording references the U-ring, tab top version.
As shown in the pic, I have done 3 Big Cats. Flat, U-Ring and the following teardrop. Looking for the missing link zip. Besides the Diet Pepsi, I've also found a Pepsi from Denver under the Black Label.
