Noticed this when I was rearranging some cans (happens every time I get a new can for the shelf!). I've never seen the actual name for the animal or scene appearing on a Schmidt Draft tab before. Checked my other 12 ounce and 16 ounce Schmidt Drafts and this is the only one. Is this the norm for just this can? Curious to know...

I do seem to remember reading somewhere that "ring-necked pheasant" appeared on this particular can, but no names on any other cans. Doesn't really make sense why that would be, but I guess that's just the way it was.

Perhaps it was due to the decimated populations in the 1960s. I remember hand raising them in Lower southern Michigan when I in was in grade school. We'd get eggs from the DNR and incubate them and raise them in a pen to later release on farmland outside of town.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Re: Schmidt Draft tab, anyone ever seen this?
I got the Pheasants zip on the left today, just picked it up since it had a different brewery, I wasn't even aware that there were multiple sets of the zips. But putting them together I noticed the left one has lighter colors, it is really apparent on the wing. Looked at the USBC volume one flats and it seems they are the same, the Schmidt division of Associated version is lighter than the Associated DBA Schmidt one. So I was wondering, did they just produce both zips and flats at the same time in both cases rather than flipping back and forth between the brewery names? I guess that may be obvious but I always thought once they started producing tabs the flats quickly went the way of the Great Auk.
Also which zip set has the Elk and Colt cans?

I think there are also some variations on the wording on the zips if I remember right like some say brewed and canned and others say brewed and filled. I will look at what I have.
looking for dumper series cans will buy or trade. Also cans with Iowa lids and tax stamps
