Dumper Soda can question

#1

Post by Ctbott1 »

I don’t own any books on soda cans but my son found a stash of sodas at the dump we’ve been digging yesterday.

In general, are sodas worth cleaning? I know there are rare ones but looks like what he found were cone top sodas, mission orange drink, skinny Hi-c, and some cott.

Not going to waste time cleaning them all if soda guys wouldn’t want them

I can’t find a picture of the cott cans online. They look like they have wavy vertical lines on thrm

Thanks

Post some pics of what you found. Most cone top sodas are desirable.

Like mountainrust said. The soda cones are pretty good for the most part.

You used to be able to download a copy of Dave Tanners soda book at his site. Not sure if you still can or not.

Mission in a cone is a very tough can. Depending on condition I would be interested in any of the three. Keep in mind the prices typically double now. My copy is from 2011 but that doesn’t hold true for all values. Just seems a lot of the values in the book double on eBay now. That’s grade 1 or better. Dumpers would be far less depending on condition. I typically pay $40 per 1000 in value mint. Send pics when you can please

Thanks for the replies and for the pictures. I don’t recall if the mission is a cone or a flat but I’ll check.

Those look like the Cott cans and definitely the hi-c cans.

I’ll start cleaning some of them up to see if they will clean and will post pictures for folks.

I tossed a few in acid today to see how they would clean. Are these types of cans in this condition still collectible to soda collectors?

If not, I don’t have to waste time bringing them back and cleaning them. If they are then I’ll tell my son to carry them back.

This is an example of what he was finding

Thanks

I’m trying to only have the one east coast dump thread and add everything there but I know I started this one so here are the flat sodas. Will post the cones in a few minutes
