Is there an etched glass reference book?

#1

Post by Pokey »

The current auction at Dan Morean's site has me wondering if anyone has produced a reference book for etched glasses. Has anyone seen or heard of one?

I would say this sale, with prices realized, will be as close as you will get. There are some subcategories that are just so tough, and hence only have very few 'generalists' who collect an etched glass any brewery INSTEAD of from a favorite brewery, city or town.

Foam scrapers would fall into this category, along with maybe brewery menus. I am sure there are others.

I've seen an etched glass book at some shows in WI, the "Tittle town" green bay show. I don't know how comprehensive it is, but it was made in the last decade. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I don't know the guys name. I think he lives in the Milwaukee metro area.

UPDATE... November 3, 2019
I finally ran into the author of the etched glass book, (at a bottle show) I was talking about in my previous post.
I got his business card, and asked him if I could his info here. Yes

His name is James Rowley, and his email is: FREEDM1996@TDS.NET
He is from Waunakee, WI
Hope this helps. I did not actually look at the book.

I just sent Jim a note and here is his reply;

“I have produced 3 books on enamel post pro beer glasses but none on etched glasses. Many people have asked me to do one but that's a project that I am not going to do. There are 5 times the number of etched glasses than enamel and they are much harder to find. Sorry I couldn't help. Jim”
