The digging trip that almost didn’t happen.
Yesterday to go digging we kinda went head to head with two semi’s being sideswiped by a tamer then hit a second one head on. Thank God we almost stopped before hitting him.
After all that we still went digging and found a few mystery cans along with a Killer come top Soda can.
Started snowing before we got to where wanted. Still had 60 miles to go.
First can was a Pepsi..dang. Come on Beer can’s.
Not having a good day. Hit a semi, dug a Pepsi and now dug an oil can.
Bam! Jake found a pit and was digging food can after food can. I said don’t give up you never know if you’ll find that one good find in a lot.
Then he pulled this Twang Cone top out.
All in all I found a few mystery cans and a Black Miller.
This is the Tankers tracks as he almost went into the ditch looking up hill. We where coming down hill behind him when I lost it and was gaining speed.
About the time I was coming. Around this blind corner his trailer came out of the ditch and bumped my front bumper sending me into oncoming traffic which was the semi in the above photo.

That Twang is a good can. Comes in 2 different Quart Cones also. With that accident you don't want to be on your way to getting the Unlucky Dumper of the Year award do you? LEON.

Finding cans seem to pale in comparison … my thanks to God that you are all OK. Sure sounds like things could have been very different.

Re: The digging trip that almost didn’t happen.
Nice find on the Twang. Those were produced in Tacoma by Cammarano Brothers. I've only found the 12 oz. once when Carl and I dug a bunch on the Olympic Peninsula. They also made Paradise Club which is one of the best looking labels out there in 12 oz. cones and flats. There are only a couple examples of the flat known but maybe they sent most of them to Alaska. Definitely something to keep an eye out for. The other brand they canned was Double Cola in both a 12 oz. and quart cone. Any of these cans are good finds but I have no idea which might have been sent north.
Isn't getting in a wreck with a semi truck a right of passage in Alaska? It happened to me on Prince of Wales Island near Ketchikan. As it turned out, the loaded log truck did in fact own the whole g-damn road. The ditch on the other hand was all mine. Glad you are OK.

The luckiest dumpers don't rely on good fortune, the unluckiest do.

Re: The digging trip that almost didn’t happen.
Thanks. I know Jake is using Lemon juice to clean the Twang, he didn’t want to wait to come over today and have me do it. Cool history on the can because o didn’t know any of that, but I did about the Paradise Club because I dug 5 of them one day up here. Hopefully next year someone finds a Double Cola. You know I have no idea if a Twang has ever been found in Alaska before?Scott wrote:Nice find on the Twang. Those were produced in Tacoma by Cammarano Brothers. Daniel , Glad you are OK but your buddy should have waited for you to clean that Twang (or could have sent to resident expert Leon).....I can see where his inexperience took the can down a level from where it could have been...but then again , its his can , he can do what he wants
