Re: 10 oz cans
It's funny how cans that are talked about on this board seem to often show up on eBay soon afterwards... Like this Tuborg...

Any of you guys win it?

Re: 10 oz cans - Encore & Cerveza Amstel
I have not posted in a while. Can't sit at the computer for long times anymore because of the issues still from my accident last fall. VA still has not figured out the issues.
Found these 10oz cans in a pile of unwanted cans in a hoarder's garage.
The Amstel Cerveza From Holland to Puerto Rico I had never seen before and has a small early pull ring. I have two Encore 10oz; One Encore is full with a South Carolina Tax stamp and the other has a Georgia Tax stamp but air sealed or beer leaked out some how. Both the encore 10oz are metalic. The book looks more enamel so not sure if these are different than what others have.
Luckily these were not in the bottom of the boxes as all the cans in the bottom were beer soaked from cans exploding over the years.
I found a few more Schlitz colors in there too and put them with my schlitz color variations. The purple and white one in pics are duplicates. The purple one is full.
Old Milwaukee 16oz is from Longview. I offered them up locally to members of our group first. IF no takers I will offer up here.

Re: 10 oz cans
Thanks for the update on the Amstel Cerveza 10oz. Its a nice looking can. One of our foreign guys said its a toughy but didn't know what it was worth.
Im finding that early 10oz cans are highly underated and they look sweet on the shelf.

For what it's worth, I turned in a BCCA Suggestion to hire a capable programmer to enhance the existing search functions in the Supplements. Data's already there, just add new search functions and paths and it's done. We can already search for Brands, Breweries, Cities, etc. Why not sizes, faces, lids, types of brew, etc. I got a response that it's in their plans...jwcans

Hmmm, I think if the BCCA hooked up with the Canventory software, a click of the mouse would give you a complete listing of all in the book/ books

Re: 10 oz cans
I'm sure the supplement search functions will continue to evolve. Whatever data is in the databases will eventually be searchable. I agree that the improved search capabilities will make the supplement sites much more enjoyable to navigate. Re: 10 oz cans
I spoke with Specks yesterday and picked his brain about Am Can lines. He started in 1958 at Am can. There were a total of 15 lines running in 1958.
Of those lines most were 12oz cans. Only one was gallons and one was 10oz that would also run smaller cans like 8oz and it was not always running.
Odd sized cans are a much lower print run and a lot more scarce than the 12oz cans. Much easier to display the 10oz and smaller cans as well.
Just thought I would send since I had breakfast with Specks and he mentioned that fact.

Re: 10 oz cans
Is there a date limit on that 10 oz tabs chart? I see a few that are missing here from the 80's and 90's. Will list if they qualify.

No dates involved. For both, I just paged through the Supplements and when I found one added it to the list. I'm sure I missed something like I did on the Flats one. Will be re-searching the Supplement. Obviously some 80's and all the 90's won't be in the Supplements. They can certainly be added for a more complete composite.Dixie Dave

Re: 10 oz cans
I have over twenty 10 oz cans, all of them being stay tabs and pull tabs, and almost all of them were sold in Louisiana: Budweiser, Bud Light (regular slim and a slightly taller slim), Michelob Ultra, Coors Light, Miller Light. Then there are the older labels: Schlitz, Schlitz Light, Stroh Light, Old Milwaukee, Dixie, Old Milwaukee Light, Anheuser-Busch Natural Light, Miller High Life, and the Miller Lite can from the 70s.

Here is my Busch 10 ounce that is not pictured. It is an air sealed can, so there is no guarantee that it was issued.

Re: 10 oz cans
Okay, let's add some cans: Stroh's, Stroh Light, Meister Brau, Meister Brau Light, Milwaukee's Best (these appeared very briefly here), Bud Light (at least 4 or 5 different), Coors Light, Miller Lite (several), LA, at least two different Schlitz Lights, Old Milwaukee Light, and a variety of different labels for the major brands. I have a Schlitz Malt Liquor, but I think that may be a Puerto Rico can. I also have a Busch 10 ounce with no writing on the bottom band of the can. I can provide photos of cans if you want me to.
If we're working to create a master list of all known ten ounce cans, do count me in to help with that. I'm mighty curious to know what I'm missing.

Took me 10-15 years to find a clean Tuborg 10 oz. (got one from a Rusty Buncher finally)....not an easy can to find and seriously undervalued in the USBC.

Re: 10 oz cans
Drawing from memory of 25 years ago, this was the explanation of the 10 oz Burgie can. Speaking with largest volume distributor of this SF brand, in Sacramento, the owner as sales manager of Saccani were unreserved. The brand wanted to extend the marketing area. Competition as it was, this could possibly be realized by finding a niche market. Selected target were female consumers.
Twist was to market a container size deemed more adequate for this gender. With each state unique for their alcohol law, the closest territory which would allow this odd size was Texas. With El Paso the furthest eastern distribution point, the trial run launched. And immediately flopped. Making this container extremely difficult to find.
Making it understandable that only those driving west, having left the Lone Star state and purchasing these 1950s, limited production cans, would occasionally turn up (empty), closer to their home base. During the 15 years I diligently collected the brand an on grade example never presented itself. Never owned one.

Re: 10 oz cans
I am curious as to where 10 oz cans were distributed other than Louisiana. Do they turn up in dumps in Texas or Mississippi? I have a vague recollection of someone saying New Mexico had some odd laws that may have favored 10 oz cans. Has anyone ever dumped a 10 oz Burgermeister or A-1? Also, talking to @Liquid Boy at Summerswap, I think he said he had dumped 10 oz Schlitz in Delaware. Anyone else dump any 10 oz out there?

Also, I only have Louisiana, Delaware, and West Virginia as states where 10 ounce cans have been dumped, any additions?
