Neat thread. Just saw it and had to go down basement and see what mine are. Dumped these and doubt if I’ll ever upgrade any.

I could probably post more groups than this. Might not be the seven worst, but pretty bad. Dumped them all, but then who would offer cans like this for trade.

Not the greatest picture but the back row is Renner Old Oxford, Brucks and Duquesne Qt., front is Renner Premium, Cremo, Loewer's and Gibbons

Chris, did you find both the Red Lion and Burger during your trip here digging with us way back when?

-John
Yes those are from the Race Track Dump. Expected Schlitz but shocked that they were toughies (regardless of condition)

Old Export? You do mean “Fox Exports”.

Do you know where the second one went ? For some reason I thought I had it.

Also, damn all of those are in great shape for “worst” condition. Wish I had your “bad luck”
"Although the cans will be of no value after opened, their cost is expected to be small..." Iowa: June 22, 1935

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Just cleaning up the story on the famous flattened GENNY ALL MALT. I am the finder of that infamous flattened example and Kevin Dooley was the first “owner”. I was in SC on an invite from Mr. Dooley to help dig an old store dump found by Kevin several weeks before. Glenn Raisner and Robby Powell had also been invited so the four of us were digging away when nature came knocking at my back door loud and clear! Obviously I left the group digging to answer that door! Probably 50-75 yards (out of sight) of the others, I took care of business.....on the way back to the group, I stumbled upon a scattering of 4 flattened cans. Nothing else, just the four flattened cans out in the middle of the woods. This Genny Beer long opener was one of them-clearly identifiable right then and there. The others were all mystery cans. After cleaning they were ID’d as a Genny Ale long opener, and the Genny all malt beer and 12 horse ale “patents pending” versions with the side by side OI panels on either side of the seam.
Since the only reason I was there was because Kevin found the store dump several weeks before and invited us down to help dig, I gave the All Malt long opener to Kevin. The other 3 deservedly went in the trash. Not sure the path that can has taken since although I know it’s been thru a few different hands. We scoured a huge perimeter of those woods looking for more that day, but nothing more found. We finally left when a sleet and snow storm came and ran us out.

Sure Mr Durrttt.. take all the credit .. I knew there was also a 12 Horse LO .. so other 2 were Copper ALL MALT and COPPER 12 Horse ? Yeah Kev D gave me can at a BG to bring home to Babel , as Babel once gave Dooley a Centirve OI .. after a year or so BABEL took his tool set to it .. sent it to RAND for the lake found AML and others and then I sent RAND a nice AML and others and he gave me the Dooley/Raisner/ Rhodes can !!

Yeah, really wild that all 4 were one each of the first two Genny ale and beer cans. Would love to have found the 30’s dump for that place! Have a feeling it had been cleaned up yrs before. The dump we dug was right outside what was left of the building and only dated to the 50’s. It was absolutely loaded with Genny bulls eye cans! Can only imagine what the 30’s pile would have had in it. Like I said, the four flat cans were probably 30-50 yards away from the dump and laying all by themselves. We absolutely scoured those woods and never found anything else! The fact that they were totally flattened leads me to believe heavy equip of some type had been in those woods (possibly cleaning up a dump site) :smt022 :smt022

That’s right Jim. I misspoke. It was me, Dooley, Raisner, and you, not Robby Powell. Sorry for the misspeak. That was some damn gnarly poison ivy!! And the snowstorm the whole trip back to VA was obscene!

Hard to narrow it down to seven, the Apache and Dingle bay are actually nice for their condition. The others, well...

I either dumped them, got them from other collectors or got them on ebay. Also my California cans were difficult to get at and not included, some real beauties there.

Cones, left to right: Apache, Beverwyck BEER, Cremo (modified), Dawson Ale, Old Tap Ale, Tahoe and a crowntainer that I forgot what it was, about 99% unreadible, maybe a Gretz.

Flats: Dingle Bay, Fort Pitt Running Waiter, Hanley Beer with vanity lid, Kings Beer, Union Cream Ale, Schlitz (why?, read on)

Quarts: Brockert Pale Ale, Narragansett Ale.

Why the Schlitz? 1973, six city, dot over Memphis, narrow glued seam. Brought it home from a 70s dumping trip, for unknown reason. Found it in parents' basement 43 years later. Might as well keep it, sentimental or something, and probably can never upgrade that exact variation as nobody saved Schlitz cans. (USBC V2 119-35)

Speaking of upgrades, the ten Bud 16oz tabs are all different: cities, lids, seams, can company codes, etc. I'll bring them home, keep the "best" and then throw away the crummier duplicates.

So, feast your eyes on these fascinating beauties...
