I first started checking a dirt road that ran along a large creek and found several pull offs. First one didn’t have any pits, but who needs to bury trash when there is a large runoff right off the side of the road! There were tons of various cans from the 50’s -80’s thrown down here. I kept about a 1/2 dozen cans, mostly mystery’s from here and I was only 25 minutes into the day.
Next spot that had cans was another road that ended at a creek. Except the last 30ft was closed to vehicle traffic so I had to walk. This place was absolutely littered with cans, but none were buried. Johnny pfeiffer, pfeiffer teardrops, Drewrys character were a few I seen. I didn’t keep a single can from here though.
Next spot was like the same, but this place had several foundations and lots of broken 20’s glass behind the foundations on the hill. Absolutely zero trace of any beer cans/bottles here.
Last spot of the day was the killer. Dead end at a river that was at least a good 400ft above the river. Took me about 20 minutes to find anything, then things took off quick. First pit had a glass pained label outboard oil bottle in it which was probably from the 40’s. No cans yet... 4 more dry pits and I finally find some pfeiffer teardrops. Good. Found a couple surface flats, and then it was hit after hit. Opened up the next pit with a bottom opened schlitz zip, with strohs and Drewrys flats. Typical stuff, but I quickly realized that some of the strohs were the elusive 2 sided flat tops. Very nasty tough can to find! And I’m digging a pit full of them! Also my 3rd time finding them, can’t believe my luck.
Long story short, I dug probably 10-12 pits. Everything from post war cones to zip tops. By far the most productive area that I’ve ever pit dumped. I was overwhelmed and I need to revisit the area. For sure.
Got some cans cleaning. Sorry to pre cleaned pyramid.
