Who was "Mr. 500"?
Just wondering?
Does he get what's behind curtain #1 or what Jay has in the box?

Re: 500 Active Members !
This is good news.
My # is 519 when I joined in in the late 90's and it was Chris Taylor that convinced me to join. We had some thing in commen and that was Pabst Export cans and I had many indoor traders and soon Chris introduced me to some of his Michigan buddies like Marc ,Leon, Wheaty, Danny and even the Lew Bros.and so many more. Needless to say I made some awesome trades.
I am a member for life as there are so many good people in our chapter.
Just saying...Brent G.

Re: 500 Active Members !
So is that 500 active members = 500 who send in their dues? Or 500 who visit this website?

Re: 500 Active Members !
it is 500 Current MEMBERS. It includes HOF members, advertisers, and any others that are members but don’t actually pay dues. Quite an accomplishment!Cap-Sealed wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 8:45 amSo is that 500 active members = 500 who send in their dues? Or 500 who visit this website?

Re: 500 Active Members !
What I find even more amazing is the percentage of Rusty Bunch members that have stayed members.
We have issued 1366 numbers, 500 are currently current. That’s 36.6% of all past RB members still current!
If we apply this to the BCCA, it’s no so good. Estimating their last number issued is roughly 35500 and they currently have roughly 3100 members active that would be a dismal 8.7% still current! If they could get the same retention as the RB they would have almost 13000 members!

Re: 500 Active Members !
Yes, you can count me as member for life too. I'm #353, and it was one of the Scoglietti that introduced me to the Rusty Bunch and signed me up at a Clawson show in the early '90's. I didn't really even know any of the local guys yet - I had been digging cans for several years with a buddy, but had only recently discovered that can shows still existed. It wasn't long before I got to know Danny, Chris, Dave Wheaton, Leon and the rest of the rusty Michigan crew. I was hooked, and I still am.Brent Gesland wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 12:17 am This is good news.

Re: 500 Active Members !
That's pretty cool because when I used to mail out RUSTlings, we had about ~210... which was fine because we needed at least 200 to get the bulk rate permit from the Post Office.

Lou Passaretti @lou.passaretti was #500Roy Rogers wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 9:53 am Just curious, who was number 500?.................I recently joined.............hope I was 499 or something!! Ha
For fun here are the first 10, and the most recent 10 members (at least from the online roster). My guess the online roster is slightly out-of-date and Dan will update soon enough. As for active numbers, some of the early members would still be RB members, just sadly age caught up to them...

I always thought being #357 would be cool. I wonder who that guy is? I bet he's awesome and everyone calls him "Magnum". Probably wears an eyepatch just because he can...

Lou is not on the roster, it was updated right after CANvention, he joined soon after. Also, he changed his forum name to Laser Lou.Randy Karasek wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 1:31 pmLou Passaretti @lou.passaretti was #500Roy Rogers wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 9:53 am Just curious, who was number 500?.................I recently joined.............hope I was 499 or something!! Re: 500 Active Members !
It’s been an amazing journey since I joined in 1995 or 96 when the thought of the USBC I was like waiting for Christmas and then the Lilek book just a pipe dream. A whole new cast of brainiacs and specialists entered / re-entered the hobby after college which coincided with the interwebs making interacting and gaining/sharing information easier than the hours of talking on the phone. I miss those days of talking on the phone with Marc for 4 hours about minor variations we had, can construction and planning our yearly pilgrimage to Blue Gray. The first years after joining the RB led to dozens of dumping trips with my dad, Wheaton, Bora, Rustmonger, Beale and Digger and later Leon, Josh, Eric AG, Keith just to name a few of a cast of characters that comprise this club. I can’t imagine a better group to be associated with.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?
