@oldmoneytexan Edward.....way to early. Both cities (Atlantic City and Norfolk) convention offices are working hotel proposals (Norfolk has two hotels that are being considered). The BCCA CANvention committee has sat down with both Chapter representative teams (Atlantic City - Jersey Shore Chapter and Norfolk - Rich Brau, Capital City, Atlantic and Chesapeake Bay Chapters). Both teams were asked to step up their social media campaign and I can say without a doubt that both teams are actively campaigning on Facebook.

We don't expect any decisions in one way or another within the next 4-7 months.

The JerseyShore Chapter banner was misleading at best.

Thanks Keith. I figured it was too early. I knew AC and Norfolk are working on it. Hopefully it's a hotel with open stairwells! lol

I'll win either way! AC is about 2 hours or so away, and I never need an excuse to go home to Virginia! :smt026

I am a member of the Norfolk for 51 Facebook page. Both are putting up great advertising. Which ever wins, there will be a motivated group backing it. I am in favor of Norfolk. It seems the accessibility to Atlantic City is a major drawback. Myrtle Beach (Spirit Airlines) is one of the few places that flies direct there. St. Louis for 50 should be the biggest in recent history. Can't wait for that one!

I expect they'll be back in the Midwest in 2022. I've heard Grand Rapids is a place they have considered.

I drove from PA to MO for the 25th in a van full of cans. I'll never forget the round hotel, I think it was a Ramada Inn. Anyway, there was a Pizza Hut on the ground floor in the center of the building. I remember looking down and seeing the roof of it covered in toilet paper. Being in my twenties I found it quite funny.

Either one or the other. Not both in subsequent years. They're only 235 miles apart! Somewhere on the Atlantic shore for the 51st and the Midwest for the 52nd. Michigan makes sense to me. And that's my absolute prejudiced opinion!!!

1971 - Very First CANvention

1988 - First Michigan CANvention
17 Years After the Very First CANv

2004 - Second Michigan Canvention
16 Years After The First MI CANv or 33 Years After The Very First CANv.

2022 - Next Possible Available For Michigan
18 Years After the Second MI CANv or 51 years After The Very First CANv.

Big pluses for Michigan...392 Breweries listed by BCCA, Aho would be in attendance, No hurricane warnings, large regional concentration of RB members to make for a super successful event. We've been patient long enough!

@Gunther
I'll take Norfolk any day. I spent a year and a half at Fort Eustis and got to know and enjoy the area.

Also been to Atlantic City multiple times. Now, you couldn't pay me to go there!

Again, my personal opinion.

Is this something that will be put to the membership to vote on, presuming both sides find favorable hotel deals and the like.

How about this for a compromise? winner gets '21, midwest for 22 (since we like to move this thing around a bit) loser gets '23?

The membership never has a vote on anything. And if there is a vote (HOF, COY, etc) they never announce the numbers. For some reason, they keep all that secret. They want no input from us, just our dues...

While I like the idea of giving members an opportunity to give their input, a vote could be difficult. I bet each city will involve a great deal of research to determine which city is the best option (based largely on economics). Once a favorable arrangement is found, they will probably need to act on it quickly. While a vote would be great, the time involved might lead to losing the best opportunity.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.
