Unlisted 1960’s Colt 45 from Detroit

#1

Post by Pbama »

Just put the below super clean Colt 45 out an eBay for a high price as I’m not sure that I really want to let it go. It’s a 1960’s Malt Liquor brewed in Detroit (1 city). It’s a Fan tab and the BCCA book only has as a Zip tab. Any thoughts?

@Pbama Paul other than the fan tab it pretty much looks like USBC Vol II 56-24

Agreed. Curious if any of the many RB Detroit can fanatics/collectors have seen this can in a Fan tab. Figure that if it’s not noted as anything other than a Zip in the book then it is probably not seen that often; if at all?

I got it, I got a bunch of different Colt 45's. BUT, They are all boxed up since my basement keeps flooding. Don't know where they are. But here's some pics saved on my computer. As far as I know it's a common $5.00 can. LEON.

Leon is all over it. Not that tough a can and was just over looked. Your can is a variation of mine. I have 056 canning code and your can had 56-A. $5 - $10 can at best.

Here’s mine. Also a matching Stout ML.

I agree with Leon and Chuck. That said still took me a long time to acquire either in fan tab.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

I just found a vanity lid variation to go with my earlier can (thanks Dave Wheaton!)
