You were too busy fondling McCoy's Apache to notice his Michel Bock when we were at his place years ago? I've only seen two Michel Beers in all my years in the hobby, and both of them stood next to a Bock.

My eyes passed over it as well in the book. I also wondered how a Texas can made it to the East Coast. So I checked other sections of the book and saw the similarly-named flat, Mitchell's. I think that threw my memory off.

Yes, Michel was by Ebling. I don't know any history on the brand, or even how to pronounce it. But, Bob McCoy and Dave Stark both had the Bock years ago. Bob's was a little off for condition, but he upgraded when Dave sold his collection. Bob got out of the hobby a couple years later, and I don't know where either one is now.

The Leonard Michel Brewing Company operated from 1907 - 1920, at the same address Ebling operated at later. Perhaps the Michels owned part of Ebling, or maybe they were related?

Huh, I was perusing Dan's website today, and I never realized the Michel cans were non-IRTP. Dan listed the Bock as IRTP, and the USBC has it as IRTP, but it's not. Both Dan and the USBC correctly list the Beer as non-IRTP. The USBC lists all of the Ebling's Crowntainers as IRTP and I can't find anything to prove otherwise. Are the two Michel cans the only non-IRTP cans by Ebling? Is the Bock the highest priced 1950's can?

By the way, it's listed as sold at $14K and as being from Bob's collection. I saw it for sale at $18K at Blue/Grey after Bob sold his collection, and I'd imagine you saw that also. The Dobler Bock was the only other five-figure 1950's can I could think of, but I have the nagging feeling that I'm forgetting something.

What did the last Fitzgerald Bock sell for?

I have a somewhat vague memory of one going for $8,000-ish in recent years.

One can that eluded my memory earlier is the Pilser's Bock. One went for $12,000 several years ago, and a clean one might do even better now. I.saw at least eight Old Dutch Bocks before I saw my first Pilser's Bock. New York is one tough state to collect, probably the toughest of all.

I had an Old Dutch Bock long before I found a Pilsers. I agree it could be a contender for second place. Don't think there's a really pristine one out there, though. There are of the Michel and Dobler. Most Fitz bocks have some level of fade, even the nice ones, so I think that hurts their value to the high end guys.
Several off but indoor Krueger Bocks around.
