Not knowing is driving me nuts! Found a bunch more cans, but they are double punch mysteries. Going to hit is hard in the AM.

Had about 2 dozen more clean Doblers, but put them back in the hole to pay tribute to the can gods (and so that someone else can find them again one day). This area is loaded. Hard to find time because we have all 6 kids here and they are wanting to fish, boat, etc.! May have to do a late night mission once everyone goes to sleep.

Mike, had I of known you were in the area, I would have looked you up for sure. We have one more day and then heading back to FL tomorrow. We are in the Gloversville area and planning to head North to Lake George area today. Found a big pile of mid-40s Schlitz flats today, but still looking for some gems.

Can't wait to see what you end up with. If you can find them, there is some nice labels that you can dig in that area.

I wouldn't be able to go out but thanks for the offer! I'm waiting for a surgery date for back surgery at the moment. Anyway it's a little late now but north of Gloversville should have taken you into some good areas and all around lake George is good if you find areas that are still not developed.

BTW did you figure out what the gold can is yet? Genny 12 horse and ballantine are the two biggest gold cans found in the area that i can think of but there are many other possibilities too.

Still waiting on my box from NY to arrive. Will hopefully be cleaning those this weekend after finishing the Maine cans (different post). The area around Gloversville looked awesome! Tons of abandoned shacks around. I only wish I had more time to dig. This was our official Summer family vacation, so I will take whatever I can get. Hopefully, there are some Doelger mysteries in the box! I am happy to have dug the Old Dutch Ale OI!

Cool, the Old Dutch was an Ale. The two obtainable Beers were rendered common from a single dump 15-20 years back. The grey Ale was apparently found in some quantity also, but the silver Ale isn't seen nearly as often as the grey one. Coming from the land of Goebel and Pfeiffer's, it would be a thrill to dig even an Old Dutch Beer OI.

This is what I ended up with from my New York trip. I wish I had more time to dig on the trip because the area I was in looked really good! Maybe I'll get back there in a year or two and do it justice.

Anyway, the cans cleaned up pretty well. If you notice some of the Dobler's are white and some of them more tan or light brown. For future reference, I oversoaked several of the Dobler's in cold acid for a couple of days and that is what turned them from being white.

I need to soak the Krueger's a little more.

Not bad though for a days work!

Well, looks like I picked up a case of the dreaded Lyme Disease from my New York trip. I had one very tiny tick, which I got off me within 24 hours, yet it still got me. No bulls eye rash. Didn't think anything of it. Then about 3 or 4 weeks after the trip, I cam down with this MAJOR fever. Freezing cold in bed with like 4 blankets, then the sweats. Went though about 2 dozen soaked t-shirts over like a 4 day period. No energy, stiff muscles, zero appetite (which was good because I lost like 20 pounds)! I thought I had the flu or something, but no other flu symptoms. No cough, no sore throat, no nausea, no runny nose or congestion. Anyway, it went away after like 4 days. However, about a week after that, I started getting these rashes all over my body, including on my face and forehead. Rashes were not itchy or painful and under the skin. Looked sort of like bruises under the skin. Anyway, at the point I decided I better go get checked out. Did a bunch of different blood tests and it came back a week later 100% positive for lyme disease. After the visit when I did the blood test, the doctor put my on doxycycline (or something like that) and am just finishing up the doseage. Then need to go back in the next couple of days to see if it is gone. I think I caught it early enough. Still feel weak and tired, but fighting through it. I take a lot of precautions and still seem to pick up a couple of those nasty little bastards every trip. Stay safe!

Hi Scott,
Sorry to hear about you getting Lyme disease. I've picked my share of ticks off of me but I only picked one that was really embedded, so I guess I've been pretty lucky. Of course I spray myself with enough deet that it's a wonder I haven't got anything worse than Lyme disease. Since you caught it early hopefully you will recover quickly and it will not be a problem in the future.
Like my girlfriend says, the things you do for beer cans...
Cheers

@canaddict Scott....great to hear you have recovered. As much as precaution as you take every time I've been out with you, I'm amazed that you got hit. It is always good to make sure you are checked every time you step out of the woods.

Bummer, Sorry to hear that. On my last trip to the U.P. Last year all 4 of us got at least 10 ticks each on us. Didn't bother me much but my 3 Buddies kept crying & screaming like little school girls, They kept pulling the Truck over to jump out & strip down in the middle of the street. LEON.

Double click pic to get scarred.
