That Piels can't be for real, can it?? That design is from the early to mid 60's and I thought it would be too early to be found in a crimped steel can. It's hard enough to find that design in the "usual" straight steel version.

Keith - thanks for sharing, I would think very hard to make a crimped can from a flat sheet? The Colt is cool - test can?

Wonder if the Regal is a soft top? Can't wait to see - I have that as a zip
Collector of Nebraska cans and breweriana, Colorado cans, tall straight steel US cans, and cans I like!

Some oddballs showed up at the Ohio mini-convention as well. In fact there was an Arrow77 crimp steel can there. I was going to get a picture of it but forgot I believe Jim Wolff got pictures of it for the supplement. Hey Aho I bet you don't have that one.....

Not sure of the relevance of this but I came across this Piels can in a tote yesterday and remembered this post. This can is in the book but the top lid has got me perplexed
(Doesn’t take much) . As far as I can tell it could be from the 60’s ? It doesn’t match up exactly with any of the American lid’s in the tab lid gallery in Vol. 2 ? I can’t speak to the 16 oz. label in the post, but it looks like they
(Piel’s) we’re playing around with it that early ?

Piels with the Brooklyn and Allentown mandatory is from the period when Schaefer acquired Piels in January 1975 until the close of the Schaefer plant in 1976 when all the Piels production was moved to Lehigh Valley (Allentown, PA).

In another thread - there was discussion about the earliest crimped steel cans and a lot evidence of crimped steel with narrow seam cans dating to the mid to late 1960's.
Expired once again in Portland ...
Still musing about cans
