Heart was beating fast for a minute! Imagine spending $1.20 back then for a12 pack and holding on to all 12 cans to this day. Better return than the stock market on its best day!!

Re: Rosalie - 10 cents per can!
Tasty and has everything good beer should have. Just what I'm looking for in a beer. I'm sold. I'll take a case, please.
Hmmm.... Crowley is only about three hours away. Might need to take a drive over there one Saturday soon. SOMEBODY bought that beer. Do any of the cans survive? Any of you Texas guys or friends near Lake Charles want to meet me for a weekend excursion in the area, PM me.
Or has that area been completely dumped? Only about half an hour from Church Point, which I understand is where it first was found.

Re: Rosalie - 10 cents per can!
It's always been funny to me that the national brands cost more back then; even with their economies of scale the transportation apparently added a ton to the cost so they had to make their stuff appear to be higher quality and a better value. Compared to today, when the bulk of the megabrewer's cost is advertising and not anything about the product itself.
Or was Rosalie just the Keystone of its day?

Better to drive 950 miles and kick asz than go a thousand miles and get nothing.

When we were 18 and going to the store in '81 Virginia, although broke, we never even considered Blatz, Schlitz or Schmidt's. It was Bud or maybe Miller, and if we were trying to look cool. Michelob.

Re: Rosalie - 10 cents per can!
As a teenager in 1982, we were always on the lookout for cheap beer. I remember buying a case of Alpine beer (Jos. Huber) for $5, when the big brands were about twice as much.

Re: Rosalie - 10 cents per can!
When I was a freshman in college in the late 70s, we found a store back home that sold quarts of Alpine 3 for $1.09. they also sold cases or Rhinelander (also from Huber) in returnable bottles for $3.49.DaddyDewrop wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 7:23 am As a teenager in 1982, we were always on the lookout for cheap beer. I remember in ‘81-‘82 time frame my teenage friends and I were having a friend by us Canadian Ace in 1/2 gallons glass jugs! Now that was some vile swill!
