I am just a simple country boy and I am corn-fused...
Did one Clipper sell for $199,000 dollars and then a second can was free if you bought the first one??
Plus $3.0o shipping?
I'll try to clearify from Memmory. First one sold for $19,299. Then soon after seller sent young son/nephew whoever back up into the attic to look for more & he found 11 more from the 12 pack or close to it roughly. the 2 high bidders & everybody else complained it would have never got bid up that high if they knew there was a total of 12 instead of one, approximately give or take a few, exact # I can't remember. Seller felt bad for the high bidder paying so much & was aware the price would have fallen with 11 more flooding the market, so she sent him a 2nd one free. which means he really got 2 mint Clippers for the $19,299.00. I think Gene Dicico bought the rest & was selling for approximately $8k-$10k. Dented straightened cans getting $5k-$7.k. LEON.
I remember too, being told that the variation that sold for big bucks is an easier variation. One of the milestones in beer can history. Opened eyes for $$$ in a lot of the non collecting public.
FWIW, I sold this one last year for $800. Private sale. Certainly not pristine, but plenty displayable from the front. I was happy with the price.

Yes, it was the more common variation, but the can was unknown in top condition until this find.

Just like printing Money. You can keep making copies & rake in the dough. wasn't there a member in here that had these paper labels? LEON.
THIS SELLER HAS SOLD SEVERAL GREAT CANS... Looks like his reputation has died with this listing if it is a fake?
Whatcha mean if it is a fake. Seller even calls it a Reproduction in his Auction. No Question, it is a fake. plus the quality of the reproduction is to poor to even think it could be real

I'll have to take your+seller's word for it. I just don't know these, Leon. The only paper label cone I have ever had in my hand is my Old German.
How bout this one? ... https://www.ebay.com/itm/352525501359
I got that same paper/foil label (whatever you want to call it) Schlitz in a flat sheet. I can wrap that Schlitz paper label around any can I want. Which I think would be much more appropriate around a 50's flat top. It just don't look right wrapped around a pull tab. LEON.

That's news to me. We talked about that can in couple different facebook venues. Some people called it fake. Others said it was sold by Schlitz as a promotional can in the 70's. One guy said it was issued by Schlitz but not put on cans. The can it's on has grey primer with what looks like no label underneath. Please tell me more about your's... history? Age?... I have not touched the can ... Label was on the can + it is how I got it from a reputable dealer. In my opinion (and a few others), it is too nice quality and exact fit to be a fake.
Mines a slightly different older version. I don't know much history of mine. being a painter I could easily paint any can gray primer or strip a can & paint gray primer & wrap this Schlitz around it. Here is a pic of mine I posted in here many years ago when I wrapped it around a dogbone zip only holding it onto can by my hand so very temporary. And it fits perfectly. It resides in a book to stay flat somewhere, not sure where haven't seen it in years. I got many stuff stashed around the house I haven't seen in years. Why it was made I have no idea, But if I have one I'm sure others do & it can easily be wrapped around any can. I could paint that dogbone gray & call it a test prototype from Schlitz & sell on ebay for Hundreds if you buy that story. LEON.
P.S. I wouldn't call yours a fake. maybe a real legite label made by Schlitz like mine. just not sure it belongs on a pull tab. especially when it's dated 1954. don't make sense. Don't even make common sense.

Here's another rare test can similar to your Schlitz. The 1936 Milwaukee Club pull tab. LEON.

You mean correct replaced or correct original not replaced? I'm not really sure, looks correct & original but the air sealed makes me suspicious. I don't think it is one of those from the case or 2 find with no tops where most had replaced tops added later, those were in better condition then this one & most of those had nice shiny tops added. But nowadays you can get a tarnished used top from a donor added. Can't say for certain but questionable in my opinion but I'm no expert. LEON.

I was thinking along the same lines as you + you are mo of an expert with this stuff than I am. Real nice condition can. but $500 nice? WoW!
Somebody must have thought the condition made it worth it but that certainly is a big premium to pay. Too bad about the lid being replaced. That ruins it for me but other people feel differently.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Can companies gave out thousands and thousands of air-sealed cans back then promoting display
competitions , we've all seen pics of these displays . Can looks original to me but still $300 - $350 can at best ,
( just an opinion )
