Texas Schlitz Pint
Hey Texas guys, is this can from Longview anything to get excited about? 1962 label design date along seam, but judging from the pull ring top, I would guess an actual production date of 1966-68.

Re: Texas Schlitz Pint
Patent Pending on the ring pull, which is kinda cool. Otherwise, the top looks fairly mundane to me.

Re: Texas Schlitz Pint
The can is not common and it took many years for me to find one. You can spin dozens upon dozens of them around and never come across a Longview. At the time of the can's manufacture in the mid 60's, 16oz cans were not sold on Texas so they all were sent to other markets.
For whatever reason, the first batch of Texas cans (10's, 12's and 16's all have the 1962 copyright date, but Longview was not open until 1966.

Makes me wonder, what’s the longest a brewery has used the same copyright date ?Longhorn Mike wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 8:45 am

Re: Texas Schlitz Pint
The Yellow Johnny Pfeiffers had a 1933 copyright date on them from mid 40's into the 50's but not as of today. LEON.
