Coors Not "Banquet" Beer
Was not aware of this before. Just realized that Coors didn't have "Banquet" in their little red logo. I have one with "Premium" where "Banquet" would normally be. Also different waterfall images in the ovals. Different fonts and text layouts also. Anyone know if it's common or unusual?

Common. Corporate decision to "update" the label. Can't remember the exact date but best guess is late 80's.

Re: Coors Not "Banquet" Beer
Looks to me like it's even older than that … I think it matches can #24 on p. 17 of the ABC book, three variations that were apparently pictured in the BCCA Brand Changes column between 1977 and 1980.

Re: Coors Not "Banquet" Beer
@Beercanpete Thanks for reminding me about the Brand Changes column(s) in the BCCA magazine. I did not think to look there considering I'm always referencing the BMV. A quick search found the change from "BANQUET" to "PREMIUM" mentioned in the NOV/DEC issue of 1980. The image is to small to really tell anything but the waterfall in the oval is definitely the larger, more pronounced one on the "Premium" can. Then in MAR/APR of 1981, they announce the intro of the 8oz can. That's another can to look for to add to my side collection of small cans.

It was even reflected in their marketing "pieces".....like radios, telephones, lighter holders, golf ball cans, golf tees, etc

@Rand I love how well you've acclimated to that not real beer can niche!! Can't believe you've found so much stuff already. Really appreciate you sharing.

Re: Coors Not "Banquet" Beer
I had that radio as a kid!
BTW, I'm currently going thru all my Coors can as part of my YouTube project. I just noticed that "Premium" difference myself! Whatever happened to that website that showed all the different Coors variations over the years???
