HOP GOLDS found in Michigan?
I thought Hop Golds were from the State of Washington? I got 3 different HOP Golds from Saginaw Michigan. Pre Prohibition embossed bottles, Embossed with Banner Brewing Company. Back Sides have the Paper Labels still intact. Probably date around 1912 or so. LEON.

Looks like they left out a Product. The bottle on far right is Hop Gold extra beer like they got listed. BUT, The 2 bottles on left say Hop Gold Export Beer instead of Extra. LEON.

A number of brewery's brewed an export version so that if the beer was not well received it did not damage the flagship brand. Pabst comes to mind for their early canned beers.

I think thats only true with Pabst in 1935. The only reason they did that was because canning Beer was a new idea in 1935. Many people were concerned with Keglining or any other lining adversely affecting the flavor of the Beer as it did with some National can co. cans and other beers such as Old Fashion cone from Montana. Also no one knew if such a idea would succeed or fail, the new can that is. Not sure if those same concerns were of concern in the early 1900's bottles. Skunky Beer affected by light was a concern though, as was Breakage which helped the can Succeed. LEON.
