Here's Steve Gordon's for comparison. Definitely looks like a different paint job or finish.

Hopefully; more on story/find still to come. Only thing I have to add is that this is not only a Holy Grail Wisconsin can but could be called a Holy Grail Olive Drab can or just simply called "A HOLY GRAIL" can. :smt007 :smt007 :smt007 :smt007 Fantastic discovery!!!! The Hits keep on coming, last year the Krueger Special and now this in 2019. What's next? What a Hobby! :smt029

Here’s the view from my seat-
I saw the can listed in a sale near Schaumburg,Ill early Tuesday morning- alerted kamsquared, waited until 9am and tried to schedule a preview(as it was offered), the Friday before the sale. No reply by noon so I left another message. No reply. Near the end of the work day I made a crazy offer via text. Immediately I get the call.... a better offer was made.
I wasn’t going to meet that number but told the guy running the sale if it falls through......I’d be the first in line on sale day. Ziphippie

The back story on how this OD Miller got mixed up with all of the other $1 cans in this collection would be interesting. It may have gone under the radar if it didn't have "Old Beer Can Collection" right in the listing.
Here is the link to the auction....I assume the other cans are still there?

Story I heard was that it was taken right off the canning line by a senior manager (of either Miller Brewing Co. or the can company), who displayed the can in his office for many years. It was then passed down to his heirs, one of whom eventually sold the can to the most recent owner/seller some time ago. Sounds plausible and would help explain the astounding condition of the can.

I hope the BCCA magazine and/or Rustlings does a feature article on the can and its history before it gets "locked up" again. Truly a monumental, once-in-a-lifetime find . . .

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. 2 weeks before the presale it already say's sold on the website. I guess people will make a exception for enough money, which I wonder what was enough money for them? To a non beer can collector a $1,000.00 might sound like alot of money for a old empty can or even a full can with old non drinkable beer. LEON.

I have no idea what it sold for. just saying that to most non can collectors $1k sounds like a lot of money for any old beer can. Didn't you ever hear the non collector say they think a old beer can has no value if empty & it's gotta be full to be worth anything. LEON.

Well I have no idea as to who won the Auction I watched just recently for a Blatz OD J-Spout Shoe Polish Can...It went for just shy of 800.00....For a Can that didn't hold Beer.

I thought that's high but that's just My opinion!

I have always figured this is the origanal Crown!?!

It appears as though I can see remnants of black shoe polish on your cone. Take the cap off & peek inside or take cap off & smell it, does it smell like shoe polish? they actually smell more like varnish or paint. LEON.

I will have to check it out...So then all of the Blatz J-Spouts were Shoe Polish Containers?....I didn't know that....I did know that they have been found under Shoe Polish Labels I just thought those were Cans that were left over after the War had ended.

I learn something new every Day!
