Made my final trip of the year this chilly morning. I couldn’t get to my first spot because of a huge hunting camp. I’ll be back first thing in spring.
2nd spot was literally in the middle of nowhere right in the river. There was a cabin back here at one point, but I think I went too far past the original drive (woulda been a long walk). Surprisingly I found a pit here, late 60’s schlitz u tabs and coke juice tabs. The edge of what I collect but still old enough for me and I knew I wasn’t coming home empty handed.
3rd and 4th spots were busts, but spot 3 was a foundation loaded with cans that I dumped out 5 1/2 years ago.
Spot 5 was the fun one. Dead end into an overlook, I started finding tons of logging era stuff like horse shoes, an axe head and other really old pieces of metal. I even found a cowbell with the collar still attached! I found only 1 pit here with some unusual looking hamms cans I’ve never seen before.
Moving back up the road I stopped again to scan the hill and noticed some broken glass. Lots of metal again with several broken pre prohibition beer bottles. I knew I was on to something, so I kept walking SB alongside the hill and found a foundation! Right there there was a decent sized dump in a washout. But, it was super easy to dig through as there wasn’t much depth. Johnny pfeiffer, Drewrys scene cans, goebel football cans, black label flats, big cat and Pabst zips as well as tabs. Not a single keeper but it was soooo good to dig through a dump. I checked the remainder of the hill side and found only tabs.
I checked the other hill (on a peninsula) and found that cowbell, a 30’s whisky bottle, a prewar can (guessing goebel) and a pile of jars.
I spent several hours at this place combining it the best I could.
Overall a great day. Can’t wait for 2019.

Bantam, you sure are chasing it! Patience and persistence are the keys to the hunt. Hope you are still having fun. It’s hard, but keep in mind not ever trip is gonna produce Waldorf’s. Love your pics...looks like a great part of MI.
Thanks. Dave

The view in that last picture is killer! With the lack of recent success on the other side of the Big Mac, it's good to see you producing down there!

Thanks. I guess I’m getting pretty lucky. If you look at the 2nd to last picture with the pit, you’ll see that I was overlooking that cliff while digging that pit.

Re: Last cans of 2018
Boy, I hate when digging season ends. Snow today here in Minn but in the 40s next week so I think I have a few more digs before I call it quits. Great digging this year Bantam I always enjoy seeing what you you bring home. tom
