California Business Trip 2018

#1

Post by canaddict »

So, we have a POP Yachts office in Sacramento that had to be relocated. I came up with this crazy idea of moving it to Tulelake, CA, so that I could combine a business trip with a little digging. Got in at like 1AM to Scramento this past Monday night/Tuesday morning. Drove like 5 hours to Tulelake Tuesday morning and set up new office all afternoon. Camped out at a campground on Tuesday night near there (arrived just before night fall). Did some night digging at the campground. Woke up the next morning and finished off the campground. Stopped at 1 other place before the long drive back to Sacramento. Had to be at the airport at 4AM on Thursday. Got home yesterday afternoon!

Was limited in suitcase weight, so here are the uncleaned pictures of what I brought home! I love this sport! Need to get some sleep now before taking the family to Disney at 6AM tomorrow. Night!

I have cleaned up the cans from my recent trip to CA. Only had a short period of time to dig, but this is what I brought home in my luggage. The Rainiers, Brown Derby and Eastside cans were all found in the same 1937 pit. The Rainiers cleaned up pretty nice!

Looks like one of them had the early Acme soup can top. Did you clean that one yet? LEON.

Leon, I had about 8 of them - all mystery and could not tell what any of them were unfortunately. I tried and tried and tried. Utterly cooked by the Sun. Definitely want to get back out that way soon!

1935 maybe early 1936. Manufactured by Crown Cork and Seal. Several Tru Blu Ales and beers as well as the first Cereal Products Acme.
"Although the cans will be of no value after opened, their cost is expected to be small..." Iowa: June 22, 1935

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?
