Retro Beer Can Composite List??
Has anyone compiled a list of retro beer cans that have been issued in recent years to resemble cans from back in the day? I can think of a three Narragansett cans (see pics), Pabst and Utica Club- all flat tops. Would love to get list going if any one has others from their part of the country?
Thanks. Dave

Just off the top of my head I would bet there are a couple dozen at least. Putting them all together would make an absolutely killer display!

Re: Retro Beer Can Composite List??
Coors has more commemorative or retro cans than Budweiser has Clydesdale horses! Some are legitimate can reproductions while the others must come from bottle labels or advertising. Maybe a true Coors collector can single them out.

Re: Retro Beer Can Composite List??
Here are the last few years of the Rainier Jubilee issues next to the original.
The other pics top row are the retro one's I could find and the bottom row some original representatives. The HUB has no relation to the original besides the name and circular symbol. The white Rainier even has at the top "go to www.remeberrainierbeer.com" on it.

Re: Retro Beer Can Composite List??
The Budweiser and Miller High Life pints came out in 2012. Never saw a matching 12oz. Of course the Pabst is always retro.

Re: Retro Beer Can Composite List??
Are the red and white Rainier beer and the green ale truly retros? Weren't they prouced at either Seattle or Tumwater by Rainier?MI-Cans wrote: ↑Sun Jun 17, 2018 8:02 am I have updated the previous picture after putting in a little more effort into my searching. I'm showing 125 cans that are Retro Brands (not necessarily Retro Designs). I simplified the search by concentrating on only 12oz cans. Maybe someone would like to tackle the larger sizes? Hope you like the result.

How old is the Canadian Rainer? Is that produced in US and exported..... or was it made in British Columbia?
How old is the Olde English 800 and does it list Pabst (Milwaukee?) or Blitz?
Just seen cans I may not have and wondering....
There are also a lot of cans produced overseas that are retro....Colt 45/Lone Star in the Phillipines, Lucky/Rainier/Strohs/Schlitz in Canada, and Tuborg Gold/Carling Black Label in various countries come to mind...do they count?

This hasn't hit the stores yet but No label's web site shows it as a can to be released this year.

Re: Retro Beer Can Composite List??
Eric,
As much as I would like to answer all your questions, I am unable to do so. Why? I just don't know the answers. I interpreted DaveNH's request as a generic query about what I believe most collectors would refer to Retro cans. As to who produced them and where or when they came out, I don't have a clue. I know some cans resemble the originals while others are different to the extreme. Keith mentions a related project. I'm willing to bet that some if not a majority will not make their list. What I've assembled is subject to individual reference and interpretation. I'll be adding golf_lover44's picture to the group.

Re: Retro Beer Can Composite List??
I have found a couple more and this will be the end of my searching. While all cans probably can be classified as Retro-Brands not all are Retro-Looking. I'm up to 150 total. They include minor variations, older & newer versions, different breweries and even some Exports. Along with the image, I'm including an MS Excel file and a PDF file containing what I was able to find out about some of the cans. Other cans...got nothing!
DaveNH - hope that helps you in your searching.
Keith - maybe it'll help in your project.
Jinsequa - might answer a couple of you questions.

Re: Retro Beer Can Composite List??
From what I know that Rainier Ale you pictured only was produced at Seattle by Rainier. I have 2 different mandatory versions of this can. So not a retro. The one on the right from Irwindale, CA I would consider the "retro" can.
I have 12 variations of the other red and white Rainier. All are from Seattle except one was produced in Lacrosse, WI by G. Heileman. This was produced at the same time as the ones from Seattle (Heileman owned Rainier at that point but didn't put their name on the Seattle cans) and so I would say that one is not retro either. Again if produced in Irwindale, CA or Canada...I would consider it retro.
