Ohio Mini-CANvention Pics and pick-ups

#1

Post by OhioCanGuy »

A few pics below with captions.

Great show again this year that was very busy both days. Sold out tables and a good number of walk ins. Dan Morean (Breweriana.com) and Dave, Tom & Dan (Beercansplus.com) were both in attendance with plenty of awesome cans. Also, a huge amount of breweriana from fellow collectors.

Warped Wing Brewing kept the, included, beer flowing both days which kept everyone in a great mood!

Great show.

From my work with Jim Wolf on the digital USBC tab top book, we are down to about 100 14-15-16 ounce cans that we have not been able to rephotograph with 5 images. Almost all of these are uncommon variations of common brands such as Budweiser, Schlitz, Falstaff, Old Milwaukee, Hamms, etc. I never thought I would spend a show looking for those variations, but it was worth it as I filled in some gaps.

Also, I am now on the hunt for what I call transitional aluminum tab-tops. Apparently, there are a lot of late tab top aluminum cans that just preceded the stay tabs. I have not seen may focus on those and they are missing in the book. In the early 80’s, I think many lost interest in then current cans and these have been missed and are somewhat rare and very cheap.

All in all, a great show.

Looks like another great show. I really want to make it back to this show.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Thanks for the Pics OhioCanGuy, I have not attended the show since it was moved to early June. Nice Red Top sign. I have the same one and it has non-uniform illumination like yours. The attached poor photo exaggerates the non-uniformity of the light. A fellow RustyBuncher gave me some material to put round the bulbs to make the illumination more uniform to diffuse the light. Have not tried doing this yet but it should make it better. I will let you know how it works out when I try it.
