#1

Post by Leon »

On my Lunch break Yesterday stopped by a House I seen that just got tore down, looked in the wooden wall rubble but as usual did not see any cans. But then I looked around a little dirt pile around back with more rubble in it & find 2 beer cans & a old bottle. Pic below. LEON.

Got a waiting list for repair cans lol.

Can’t imagine how many good cans have lost forever this way.

Yes it was. The Schlitz had a 1967 date on can. Since the house was probably built around 1900 I wonder where the Schlitz & Colt 45 came from? maybe a 1967 addition to back of house? With all the houses being torn down I'm sure many good cans have been demo'd & thrown in Trash. I did look into big metal dumpster at site that was full of wooden house walls but no visable cans. The house refuse is usually hauled away in many big trucks on the scene, not usually stored in any kind of metal dumpster so that was unusual. LEON.

Having lived near Detroit until I was 8 years old, I am always absolutely astonished by the statistic that there are supposedly some 70 to 80 THOUSAND abandoned buildings in Detroit … Imagine if just one percent had some salvageable cans in them. That's 700 to 800 buildings! Go Leon!!

Here's what's going to happen....one day, someone is going to take a wrecking ball to one of those houses.....and a ton of Regal OIs are going to come tumbling out.....and the 3 or 4 known are going to have a bunch of on grade friends....and we're all going to have a Regal OI on our shelf!

For over 20 years i have been hauling those dumpsters and have asked many people about cans. I have seen a few 50's bottles found, rumors of some cans that aren't for sale and seen one minty genny patriotic can again not for sale. Most of the time it's done with a excavator so I'm sure i have hauled some to the dump that were never seen by the demo guys or me when i open the door to dump. Some day I'm going to have a guy say hey are these any good and hand me some genny LO's or I'll open the door to see cans spilling out.

That will never happen. if it did it would bring the price of my dumper down to $5.00. I wouldn't want to see that happen.
