Airstream Adventure
Not a rusty can but this was quite an adventure with the boy.
Char found this (long story) and it was sitting in the woods for over 25 years. We spent some time with the bearings, tires and a light bar and headed off on a 275 mile journey to get it back home including the Cross Sound Ferry.
Super fun adventure with the boy and now to get busy on the restoration on this 1968.
Was even able to get the original paperwork and actually got it registered to come home legal.
There is one left in the woods at the same place and trying to get that one also. It's the newer one in the pictures.

Re: Airstream Adventure
There is a company near me that buys them, restores and or customizes them to however you want......if you have deep enough pockets. I was there once and they were doing one for a casino in Vegas to make it look like a old fashioned diner and i think the guy said it was going to cost somewhere in the 200k or more range when they were done.

Re: Airstream Adventure
Very cool. Every year there is a gathering of Airstreams right down the street from. Must be a couple hundred there. How did the interior hold up?

Re: Airstream Adventure
Interior is shot and gutting it completely. Not so much water damage but every type of rodent has made a home in it.

Re: Airstream Adventure
Just now!
I’ve been wanting one of those small mini campers from the early 60’s to take along on longer dumping trips. They’re small enough to tow with a car

Slowed a bit this week because I guess I needed to actually do some real workSea Monkey wrote: ↑Sun Jun 03, 2018 6:26 pm Great adventure. Keep the pictures of the progress coming!
Off to sandblast this week then get the minor welding finished and new deck and tanks on. After that it goes back under the shell.

Re: Airstream Adventure
Always wanted to do one of these, I’m paying close attention- thank you for posting. Stopped by the Airstream store to see if they have any used models (they don’t stick around)! Something new this year, fiberglass-

Re: Airstream Adventure
It's back on the frame!!!!
And I found another for future fun after this one is finished. No one has used it for more then 15 years but the HOA's are paid … A little weird but making contact with owners.
