ebay can of the week. $5,000, how many known?
Seen this can on ebay sell for about $5,000. BUT, heard there was a small find of these? anybody know how many found? anybody wanta share the top secret details. I see the seller did not put in Description recently found 10 of these or how many he found, would it get $5,000 if he did say how many he found? LEON.

May be due to the BCCA FB page being a "Closed Group", I mean why would we want people to know what we do and have folks join?

know where close meaning a lot lower or a lot higher? I seen one upstairs at the Toledo show last weekend but nobody was around or at the table & don't think it had a price. out in the open by itself on table & I didn't notice anybody even stopping to look at it which I thought was odd. LEON.

Because there is a separate public group already and people are hesitant in putting pics up of their collections in a public group.

Yep, the 3 people that don't want their stuff on "SOCIAL MEDIA" dictate how it's run. You realize we are down to just over 2900 members, seems like the 3 can go so we can grow the club.

Re: ebay can of the week. $5,000, how many known?
Leon,
Clarkston1 posted this photo a couple weeks ago. The can seen at Toledo is from this group. The eBay can and the one pictured above are quite a bit nicer. The $4750 eBay price was a pretty strong result for a can not quite as nice as the best two from the 2015 eBay auction, but bear in mind that the 2015 auction showed a can that was nowhere near as nice as those that the top two bidders received.

Re: ebay can of the week. $5,000, how many known?
Here's another not from the find of three . . . one more would make four, perhaps Mike got that one? If so, photos would be appreciated. It seems there are at least a dozen indoor cans known now, even if condition varies quite a bit. I wish some Frederick's Four Crowns would turn up . . .

Re: ebay can of the week. $5,000, how many known?
Leon and Marc, I bought what John Ferguson said was the best of the 3 cans he had. I paid 2000 and I believe that the other 2 sold for that same price. I also am confused as too how many finds and total number of cans. Marc, didn't you get the best one of the original 3 can find ?? Which sound like it is now 4 . Plus the ebay can, plus the on grade one in chic. At least 9 nice cans.

Re: ebay can of the week. $5,000, how many known?
I think it was the NABA president who found 3 of the Ambrosias in an antique shop earlier this month. Plus the one on eBay and several popping up on Facebook. Exactly how many are now floating around is anyones guess at this point...

Good stuff, Illinicans. $5k does seem outrageous anyway. Was your one in good condition btw?

Monroe, haven't got it yet but it is supposedly the best one of the 3 pictured in this post. The pic from John Ferguson.

I also heard that there were 7-8 found in an antique shop before John Ferguson found his 3. I did get one of his 3 antique store Ambrosia's.

Re: ebay can of the week. $5,000, how many known?
I've seen seven others besides John's turn up since July, 2015, and all of them are in better shape than the three John had.
Four came out of a single eBay auction in July, 2015. Then we have the single Facebook can Rand posted above, the eBay auction that prompted Leon to start this thread, and the eBay 'But It Now' I posted above and again below (which apparently sold quickly at $5,800).

Interesting, I was not aware of all these finds. Sounds like at least 10 indoor cans found in past 2 or 3 years. So at least 11 indoor known if your counting Bob's. More then I thought. LEON.

If the Facebook post is accurate there should be another one somewhere (I'm assuming both recent eBay cans are from that find). I'm told there are a couple more in Chicago collections also.

Here's one we apparently all missed; it was an auction with a $1,300 'Buy It Now' option.
