Post by Canadacan »

I don't really have many USA cans but this is one of my favorites that I got from Art LaComb down at the Portland Canvention.
Been playing around with backgrounds :mrgreen:

Yes I could do that....one of the tricks with this was doing it with as much natural light as possible. I had tried doing this in a light box of sorts but the background just comes out blackish/grey.....the background need to stay as dark as possible.

@Uncle Jackson
When I was doing it with bottles it was about using natural light to illuminate the bottle, and maintain a pitch black background, just my artistic take I suppose :)
But with cans it's a whole new challenge, I have a Fanta can I'm trying to do but because of the design of the metallic portions on the can it's nearly impossible to get a decent pic.
Here's a bottle I did.

Both the Drewrys and bottle picture are beautiful.

If it is tough to keep the background completely black and still make the foreground look good, try putting all of your effort into the foreground and then using Photoshop Elements to blacken the background. A free alternative to Photoshop Elements is Paint.net. The downside of Paint.net is it does not have as much documented support as Photoshop but it's pretty good.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

@pinnacle-project
Hey thanks, ...yes I suppose I could use paint shop for the background, but there would be no challenge! Having said that I do retouch the photos as needed.
It's something fun to play around with...I still need to try Jerry's suggestion for more or brighter light, and I'll certainly keep that background idea in mind...thanks for that!
