Home Testing institute used to send my family generic items for them to test, rate and send back in. Many times cash would come in the mail for for assurance my folks would respond. Cigarettes, dried goods and sodas, like the one pictured were given instruction on when to use, what order to use and where to respond to the questionnaires.

It was kind of a coup to get on their list.

Yes, my folks were sent free cigarettes - not sure that is legal anymore.
