Re: Colorado Composite Discussion Thread
Thanks for posting the pics, Ed. Besides the 3.2% lid, the toothed seam will be noted for this label with the next update.
The Land of Lakes with that lid is listed as both flat and tab. Tough can in either version.

I'll look over your pics and PM you with the ones that will be added to the composite. I really appreciate you taking the time to go through your cans for these little variations and taking the pics.

Re: Colorado Composite Discussion Thread
A few months ago I was made aware of a color difference for the Crystal Colorado Beer label. It takes a sharp eye to see it, but it's there. The dumper flat on the left is a pit can I dug a number of years ago. I actually downgraded to put this can on the shelf. On the right is a tab. If you click to supersize the second pic, the color difference with the trees & water ripples is quite noticeable. Both cans are CCC40. So far I've only seen this difference with the flat. This color variation has been added to the composite list with the next update.
I don't know which color is harder to come by. If you have a Crystal flat in your collection, post which variety you have. And if you have a red tree tab, I'd love to get some pics for the composite list.

Re: Colorado Composite Discussion Thread
John Smoller sent me these pics yesterday. A new lid variation on the Colorado Gold Label. This vanity lid pinpoints the year to 1959, one of the earliest dates I've seen for this label. Thanks John!
This will be added with the next update.

Re: Colorado Composite Discussion Thread
Not a very sexy can, but I found a Metz pull tab from National can co while organizing my trader totes. I didn't see it on the composit list, but I don't know my Colorado cans at all so this just may be a foolish post.
I can provide a picture if you deem necessary.

Re: Colorado Composite Discussion Thread
It seems after an update, more variations show up. From the Mile Hi Dry Dock show Saturday, here are a few more variations that will be added with the next update. Click to super size the pics.
The first two are courtesy of Gordon Bragg. First is the Tivoli tab VII130-19 CCC29 with a Brewed & Packaged By Tivoli bottom lid. Second is the Sheridan flat 132-40 CCC40 light gold with an Oklahoma bottom lid. John Smoller pointed out the seam variation on the Walters Bock flat 144-20 CCC40. Shown next to the tab, you can see the toothed seam. Also note the color variation in the hops. Lastly, this Walters can I won in the raffle. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed this seam variation. Walters Premium Pilsner shiny gold 144-18 CCC40 with a 9 tooth seam.

Re: Colorado Composite Discussion Thread
Mark Rodgers has provided us with pics of the oldest version of the Coors Export Lager. The 2 cans pictured are both "Bohemian" hops varieties, as shown in the story on the back panel. In early 1936, the word Bohemian was deleted, along with a change in the mesa on the front of the can. 1936 coded cans come in both varieties, the "Bohemian" version being much tougher.
According to the American Can Co. contract signings (available in the Reference forum), Coors started canning their beer in December 1935. So the can Mark has is the oldest version with the 1935 can code, a simple X. The later 1936 version has the X with a bar along the left side. Another thing to note on both of these varieties is the lack of any patent information. The later 1936 no "Bohemian" variety has Patent Pending in the lower left of the story panel, just above the black band.
Click to super size the pics.
It is possible there is an older version, albeit a VERY slim possibility. In Herman's thread for early beer can advertising, there are many pics of Coors Export Lager with a U-permit number on the front of the can. Do these cans actually exist? Probably not, since Coors only canned beer for one month in 1935. Sure would like to find one, though.
So a big thank you Mark for the pics!

From the Rush to the Rockies ABA show, a Coors 7 oz. aluminum flat {240-7) without the 3.2% statement. It will be added with the next update. Can courtesy of Michael Boardman.
Also from the show, and for your viewing enjoyment, a sheet of the seldom seen Colorado Gold Label flat with the contents on the front of the can. Thanks to truckwashdoug Doug Groth for sending me the pic. He won the sheet in the Friday night auction.

A big shout out to Dwayne Sutton for getting me this Tivoli Bock can. It's still full! The composite list shows flat, super soft and tab. This particular tab is a U-ring, so I will make a notation for this early example tab.
