KAMSQUAREDs B/G Adventure

#1

Post by kamsquared »

I love going to Blue Gray even though the wife is not happy about it being on Valentines Weekend.....I got some great Valentines tips from Potters66 and Worcesterbeer about how to placate the wife while you're gone......notes have been taken for next year.
On to the good stuff, the story and most importantly the pictures....

YooperAho & I started off in the Detroit burbs on Tuesday after the Yooper's 9 hour trek from the UP of Michigan to my place.
We spent Tuesday night in Pittsburgh at my buddies place just to split the trip in half. We drank a lot of Yuenglings (which we STILL can't get in Detroit) and checked out the killer 6.1L Cuda that my friend Kyle is putting together.....sweetness.

Yooper trying to figure out where we are and where we're going......
IMG_0371.JPG
My buddy Kyle's Cuda under construction. I've never seen black paint that nice.......
Shoop 73 Cuda with 6 1 Hemi 775.JPG
We made it to Fredericksburg on Wednesday by noon without fanfare....smooth sailing and blue skies the whole way.
But then this crap rolled in......this is the view of the Sniper Station from our room.
IMG_0378.JPG
....and the view from the cell block rooms.....
IMG_0380.JPG
We set up all of our cans including all of my aluminum Miller slag.
IMG_1438.JPG
We had a couple of room issues but not too bad......
HEY THAT WAS LIKE THAT WHEN WE MOVED IN!!!
IMG_1455.JPG
Either the guy who put this painting up was drunk or it was that psycho Kevin Spacey character from the movie "Seven" (let me know if you get that).....based on the hotel clientele, I think it was the latter.... RustyJones spotted it right away.
IMG_0379.JPG
How many hotels do you know with INDOOR gutters?

We were able to BS and have a couple of brewskis with some cool folks.

I even saw a couple of totes full of cans.....
IMG_1440.JPG
......and heard a great story about a drunken dentist who liked to drink Budweisers between patients (hopefully that will make the next Rustlings).
IMG_1453.JPG
I spent a lot of time in Worcesterbeer's room along with everyone else.

IMG_1470.JPG
This guy was just squatting at the Ramada and apparently had nice digs elsewhere.....
IMG_1469.JPG
I may have gotten a little tipsy with all of the comradery that night.....and throughout the week.
IMG_0392.JPG
When I only came home with these, the wife said "You drove 1200miles and wasted 4 days vacation just to buy 2 old beer cans and a can opener??!?!?".....
IMG_0381.JPG
I didn't have the heart to tell her its 1 beer can, 1 soda can, and a bottle capper..... I don't think she understands it yet.

Don't worry honey, you'll be surprised next year....

Great Pictures!!!!!

Always a great time hanging out with Kamsquared. Squatter I am but all pre arranged with Worcesterbeer and Dave's room.I used to stay with Jerry but he just snores way to loud for me. If you stand outside his door next year, you will here what I mean!
It took about 3 days to find the right person to accept my offer on the Muggsey sign but thought it would be a nice added touch to the window of the room every year. In the process of rebuilding it now since a few pieces were missing.

Potters, you're probably the only one at the show that didn't come back with this nasty sinus thing and killer cough......I might need to just get a room for the day at the Ramada and get a sleeping room at the Hampton next year.

I still have not heard any good stories involving Mr Aho in Fredericksburg. Are you sure he wasn't replaced by a seed pod (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) before he got to your house???
Well, you got some good pics. And yes, Mugseys bar sign. Last time I was in there was with Ekstrom & Dan Morean, watching the local crack heads doing a dance that Steve called "The Cricket." As far as the hotel goes, I've stayed in crapholes much worse. As far as the better half goes, they never get it, unless of course your better half is a collector of things, like mine is. Of course she still knows I'm about 5 fries short of a happy meal. :smt006

That place certainly looks like a dive (indoor gutters?) but at the end of the day it does not matter because it looks like you all had a great time.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Da Yooper was in rare form. He was quite focused on cans this time. He did do a dance recidal one night, but other than that, he was pretty tame by Yooper standards.

Maybe the confusion comes from the fact that Lita Ford was originally in The Runaways, as in "Joan Jett and the Runaways". I'm pretty sure I've heard her sing it too.
I dump cans and cars, if you find old cars & trucks while dumping, please let me know.

Nice pictures and DAMN i am ugly! i really enjoyed the time sitting with potters, worcesterbeer and the constant cast of characters forever filtering into and out of the room. and of course i really loved the very questionable local who came in, reminding me of a wino on the street corners of D.C. he liked steve's muggsey sign and said he had a matching t- shirt. after a couple minutes of shmoozing us he asked,"where all da beer be at?" felt really bad informing him that locals were no longer welcome. (yeah right...). a priceless evening of entertainment!
thanks guys!

"Although the cans will be of no value after opened, their cost is expected to be small..." Iowa: June 22, 1935

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?
