Terrible News - We've lost another collector - Darren Suran

#1

Post by kruegerbock »

Last night I received an email from one of his former coworkers indicating that Darren Suran had passed away after a short illness. I'm not even sure if Darren was an RB member, but he certainly had a lot of rust in his collection. I'm sure a lot of you know him from Blue-Gray and CANventions over the years. He was a "transplant" from Indiana to NJ, and became very active in the Jersey Shore Chapter. He designed and constructed many of the entrances to our hospitality nights.

Sorry for rambling - I am still in shock over this. Darren was a very easygoing guy and will be sorely missed.

I just received information indicating that funeral arrangements will be in Indiana. I will provide additional information as I get it.

That is a real shock since he was a pretty young guy compared to many in our hobby. I have dealt with and traded with Darren a number of times in the past and always found him to be a great guy. A real loss to the hobby.

As Al wrote, we are all still in shock over this terrible news. He was a great guy as anyone who came in contact with him knows. Darren lived in NJ after moving from South Bend
Indiana a number of years ago to work at Mercedes Benz. He was a
member of many chapters including the Jersey Shore and Garden State and
he attended all of the recent Canventions. Darren was responsible for
many of the creative ideas for the Jersey Shore Hospitality Night
parties at Canvention and he always went the extra mile on his
fantastic costumes. At BCCA events he was everyones friend and always
enjoyed himself. He will be missed for sure! As you can see, he loved the ladies.

Hoist one for our friend Darren tonight.

I met Darren through Don "King" Kaiser. Darren was and is a great guy! I remember Darren ALWAYS had a Polaroid picture of himself hanging around his neck at Canvention. 1st and 3rd picture from farmer's post. Darren ALWAYS got in the sprite and groove at Canvention and the Jersey show party. He was the kind of guy that you could walk up to at Micro night on the trade floor or where ever and just start shooting the S..t with. Never said a discouraging word about anything or anybody. A big man with a great attitude. He will be missed.

Nostrovia to you my friend. you will be missed!

I am really saddened by this news. Darren was one of the first collectors I met on my first trip to the US at the Orlando Canvention. He was a wonderful person and a good friend.

Rest In Peace Darren.
