I just bought a ton of sports cards.
So I couldn't resist buying this 3 generation sports card collection. There may be upwards of 60,000 cards from the 4 major sports from mostly the 70s, 80s and 90s, but a few from the 50s and 60s. I haven't begun to dig through them. I know the 80s wasn't the greatest decade for sports cards, but I decided to take a gamble. I figure it will be my winter time project. I definitely want to flip them to try to recoup my money and possibly profit from this. Are there still price guides in magazine form? I see Beckett's does an online guide, but that's a $ 100 subscription. I'm just a little out of the loop when it comes to cards. Any comments, pointers, advice and good natured ribbing is welcome.
Currently in a collecting funk. Waiting for the bug to bite again to get back into collecting some type of cans, on a small, affordable level.

Re: I just bought a ton of sports cards.
I still have tens of thousands of cards from 1980s until 1994 with many hand collated sets in mint condition. Recently went through some of them to check what they were selling for on ebay and was shocked to see prices in the pennies for superstars, hall of famers, rookies, chase cards, etc. Lots of collectors got burned by the speculators, scammers and manufacturers flooding the market with product in the early 90s.
Now the card shops are gone and card shows are dead.
I thought about getting a box of 2018 Topps Baseball cards and checked the ebay listings, but there are so many different types of sets, just from Topps, that I didn't even bother. Needless to say, not a single store sells packs of cards, when 20 years ago Walmart, Costco, convenience stores, drugstores and supermarkets all carried something.

Re: I just bought a ton of sports cards.
Yes, that hobby certainly is not what it once was. I have cards from the 50's to early 2000's with the bulk being from the 70's and 80's. Someday, I will get rid of the 80's and newer but right now, it's not worth my time given the prices they go for.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.
