Discounted brand new OEM car parts

#1

Post by pinnacle-project »

When I buy car parts, I usually try to avoid places like Advanced Auto and instead get OEM. Unfortunately, OEM parts can be pretty pricey so what's a person to do? Whenever possible, I buy brand new OEM parts on ebay or Amazon.

My wife has a bad oxygen sensor in her Toyota. The local dealership wants $223 or $236 after tax. I bought the exact same part on Amazon from Daytona Toyota in Daytona Beach Florida. My net price was $154.79. Sometimes non-OEM parts are not available but in this case, I could have got Denso #234-9049 from my local parts store for $159.99 or $169.59 after tax. Since this was not a critical part, I decided to get the OEM part from Florida and wait a week to finish the project.

If you are not already getting OEM parts on the Internet, this may be something you want to consider.

Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

One of the best places I like to look for parts is RockAuto.... They carry just about every brand and it's easy to compare the brands and prices right next to each other. In most cases, they carry the OEM brand too!

X2 rock auto.

And it’s always more expensive to pick up a part at the dealership for some reason.

I did not know Rock Auto stocks OEM parts. I checked the sensor I bought just now. They do not stock the Toyota OEM part but they did have Denso #234-9049 for only $94 (plus tax and shipping?) versus $159 (plus tax and shipping) at my local Advance Auto Parts. If somebody wants the Denso, that's a really good savings.

Amazon is OK, but as the owner of three late model Chrysler products, I seem to get better deals and a better selection on eBay. There is a Chrysler dealer in Kansas City that runs buy it now autions for Mopar parts on pretty much anything I need for my Grand Cherokee, Town & Country and 300, all at great prices.

Unless I need something in an emergency, I never use the parts sales at my local dealership that is literally 5 minutes away. I don't know why I can buy OEM parts from a official dealership and have them shipped, for 25% less than my local store.
