redo Camaro door panel
I need to repaint the inside door panel. You just can't buy new panels in this color. Suggestions as to paint?? (I have not been able to find it at specialty Camaro online stores).
thanks, MarkB

Re: redo Camaro door panel
Is your Camero Z28 SS or RS. ??? Well, You never know when or where you can find one.. I don't have any old muscle cars or collect them but I do have a friend that collect cars. But little older cars ,I think 68-72. I just like learning about them. In fact ,I'm help a friend finding a Oldsmobile bumper, Even it not your specialty
If you ever , find a white panel door, most likely, you have to buy the complete car, Not in good shape running or not.
As I mention before, A swamp meet ( If they have it) during the cars show that will be going on all summer long. I live in Wis. and 2 big cars show coming up this summer 1) Iola car show Have alot of muscle car ( I never been there ). 2. Back in the 50's, ( Sunday only) in St. Paul, Mn.
I don't know where you live but I do know wherever you live, There will always be a car shows almost every weekend during the summer.

Re: redo Camaro door panel
The problem here is using paint on plastic, check with a auto paint store (florissant auto paint in st Louis)
You need to clean the part with a special cleaner, special primer then a good quality automotive paint.
If you follow those steps, you can do the job yourself and get great results!

Re: redo Camaro door panel
And white is one of the hardest colors to match(from what ive been told anyway) to other parts you have. Are you repainting everything that's white in the interior? Also i always thought they used a dye for interior parts and not regular paint, maybe I'm wrong here...MarkB wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 9:24 ama '76. but this door part is impossible to find in white...beerhunter14 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 30, 2018 10:31 pm Most likely have to go to a swap meet. Oh and have you checked Year one? They probably have aftermarket door panels for your car along with a ton of other parts too.

Re: redo Camaro door panel
Because this part has grain/texture built right into the plastic part I think it would be about impossible to fix properly & look good. In my opinion, Buy a new aftermarket door panel if available from year one or goodmark or Sherman & associates, AMD, NPD, or any of the other 100 aftermarket Parts people. Then go to nearest paint dealer with old panel & see if he can look up interior paint code. I have a 1976 Chevy paint code book that shows paint code of 11T for a White Vinyl top color. It's possible this could be the same code as Interior but maybe not. Something to start with. Good luck. LEON.

Re: redo Camaro door panel
I agree with Leon. To fix properly & look good. . As Mike S point out painting the interior may not look right. If you want to have a investment on your Camero. In my option,go to aftermarket or get reproduction part. Most car collector do that way.. Even they hate it.!!! A friend of mine restore convertible Cameo and Oldsmoblie and it very hard to find original soft top . No choice but order a reproduction part. When he restore car , he is trying to have most of the original part on the car. At this time I don't know where he get those hard to find reproduction part.
Other thing you can do, If you can't go to swap meet. Check out Craiglist. but you have to expand your range to able to find your part.k Good Luck
