Moved to Other Interest....
Sure, was fun last year. I believe @MI-Cans had the idea. We'll come up with something for prizes.

Re: Got A Buck?
We'll make it happen again this year.
Ok seems that there is an interest in a RB sponsored Big Buck Contest again this year......here are a few ground rules....
- The deer must be taken by a fellow RB member and a photo included (bonus if you happen to take a photo of the tag where you signed it)
- You must provide the date, weight and point count of the deer.
- You can shoot the deer anytime in the Fall 2017 season through any means (bow, muzzle loader, flintlock, rifle etc.) sorry....cameras don't count.....which means you could have multiple entries. And no Clayton road kill is now a legal entry.......
- The contest ends on 30 Dec although a few various states still have some open seasons past 30 Dec.
- All posting will be placed into a poll for RB members to vote on for their favorite three postings. The poll will end on 20 Jan. The poll will be hidden until the end of the voting window.
- The RB Chapter will award three prizes based on the amount of votes received by each entry.
- Images of the prizes will be made available while the poll is being conducted.
Now good luck and be safe..........

Last week, I saw a dead deer on the side of the road with its head cleanly cut off. I suspect that someone got a trophy by cheating.

Re: It is on again this year.....Got A Buck?
6 point Blacktail Buck - shot November 4, 2017 with a Browning .338 win. mag. using 250 grain Nosler bullets. Deer probably weighed 150 pounds. Was shot at Double Bay on Hinchinbrook Island, Alaska about 4 miles from cabin. I always hunt alone so there is no picture available with me and the deer. After I shoot a buck and get pictures, I skin him and debone him and cut off the antlers. This buck I could not lift up the backpack, so I put on backpack laying on ground near tree. Roll over on my stomach and use my hands to walk up tree to stand up. Then I walk back to cabin always watching for Brown Bear. I now shot 52 Blacktail Buck in my life. Alaska Chris
Until next time, may your totes always be full of cans and your past and future dumping trips be in your dreams at night.

Re: It is on again this year.....Got A Buck?
Thank you RB leadership! I'm glad this is being done again this year! I really enjoy the background stories and the pictures.
Though I don't hunt anymore, I have a lot of enjoyable times to recollect from Crystal Falls. In close to forty years of hunting, I probably only got six deer. I wasn't a diehard hunter. I didn't need the meat. I just enjoyed the fresh air, the critters scurrying around, the occasional deer or coyote passing by, mostly the peace and quiet out in the woods. I miss that.
I remember Da Yooper's song was always played by somebody during those trips: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q ... fi2iD6Mq3i

Re: It is on again this year.....Got A Buck?
I know cameras don't count but thought I'd share some pics. I haven't yet been able to get this guy in the daylight with the long lens but the trail cam picks him up foraging at night now and then. Here he's eating a discarded pumpkin and using a salt lick I put on the stump in the foreground.
Here's a doe I shot the other day. I have no idea how big the local herd is but we see a lot of does and very few bucks. There were 5 does (and/or juveniles) on the trail cam 2 nights ago.Always looking for

Re: It is on again this year.....Got A Buck?
I'm with dwaugh too. Camera don't count But I show a photo that was on my trail camera. This Buck was going through our backyard. So I hunted that area the open day and I only saw 1 small deer and 2 fawn. The rest of the week was nothing. Then I decide to head south about 200 miles where the Big Boys (Buck) but the problem there that have standing corn and a 25 miles wind. So travel back home to start a work week.Gun season end and Muzzleloader start for 10 days.I was surprise this buck survive the Wis 9 day gun hunt. So I hunted Muzzleloader during that 10 days but weather was warm in the 40's I only saw a doe and fawn during Muzzleloader season. No buck. Now it archery season again. 1 week left of archery season and it all done. I did not go archery hunt this year due to the pinch nerve on my neck. ( I'am better now). Now, I hope this buck survive a harsh winter and a pack of wolves !!!!!!!!!!!!! and will be bigger next year. We already gotten 6 inches of snow on the ground and more to come.
Congratulation for those already harvest a buck
Soon the voting will start.

Re: It is on again this year.....Got A Buck?
I shot a nice doe this year, right next to my favorite trout stream- got permission from a farmer to hunt some beautiful bluffs in the driftless area of the state. My first time out in fifteen years. Got a nice buck on the trail camera in my backyard- Bjorn

The cam is from Iowa. It is on a very large unfenced farm property. Hunting near any feeders is prohibited. The deer are free to come and go as they choose. Here's a link:
