whip antennas need. need not actually work!

Post by MarkB »

Anyone here into radios that has some old whip antennas I could buy (cheap)? They don;t have to work! I am building a life-size model Sputnik for a class exhibit and need 4 steel antenna. Two need to be 94 inches long, and two need to be 114 inches long. (they need not be exact, but should be close.) They just need to be metal, look alike, and not the retractable kind. I don't have the budget to buy all new working antennas for this. Am open to ideas.

Here is Sputnik so you can see what I need.

Radio shack (Are they still in business?) used to sell a cheap stainless steel CB antenna that were 102". They were of course called the 102 whip and were only $15 but that was almost 20 years ago. They also had fiberglass ones that could maybe be painted?

I wish I could help you. I used to have one long time ago. I think I gave it away. My best bet is to ask the outdoorman that do alot of hunting with dogs such as houndmen. in the small town. area.
