UHHH, I think a lot of us are heading in YOUR direction that day.....to a place called Cleveland....kind of near Michigan I think. Something is going on there if I remember right.
Seriously, I hope you have reservations if you are planning on staying overnight anywhere close. Tougher to get than a convention room in many places.

Wondering if the flight I am on departing Denver at 11:05 will be in the air over the band of totality at the right time as the plane heads to Cleveland? Not sure that I will be able to see much out of the plan windows though...

Mi-cans - thanks, did not consider that pilots would shift the flight route... I was just thinking given the usual time departing from the gate, taxi-ing to the runway etc... and then flight time to the north and east, would the normal flight route time out well to be closer to the totality zone. Should be over any clouds... of course there is also the issue of an on-time departure?

My Canvention flight departs early Tuesday morning about the same time as the million or so predicted visitors to Oregon are also planning on leaving. Its a good thing I booked when I did or else I'd have to skip as every flight out of Portland is booked.

The path of totality is about 30 miles south of Portland so we'll head to friend's house Sunday evening to catch the Monday morning show. Should be interesting.

For anyone who is taking pics don't use your zoom. I guess it can mess up most cameras and phones without a filter on the lens.' Had a photographer tell me this a little while ago at a cookout.

We had a 90% eclipse here. The shade from an elm tree in front of my shop cast all sorts of eclipse shots in the shadows.

I had to wear a Welders helmet at work to see it. 80% here in Detroit area. But it will be much closer in 2024 when it goes threw Toledo, then Cleveland. LEON.
