saw led zeppelin 3 times in 1977 in landover, md. was not impressed. went first night of their 4 night stand. took a new girlfriend. we left before it was over. went back two out of the three remaining nights to sell speed. made a killing there.( but thats a story for a different time.).
i found the entire show to be pompous and self indulgent. 25 minute drum solo? and the silly violin bow solo that stunk. the laser effects were the first i remember seeing in a large arena though. that was cool. and robert plants vocals were awful. definitely in need of autotune.
but did see ac/dc in i think 75 or 76. killer show. bon scott was all over the place. great show from a great frontman.
but to just stray of topic for a second. i think the best show i ever saw in that time period was parliment/ funkadelic in '79 in landover george clinton up front and three great guitar players behind him. outstanding.
and speaking of axl rose. i have a guns n roses promotional banner for their fedex field show this past june if anyone is interested in it. it is i think 12 foot long by 5 foot tall.
