Steve, thanks. It's on Staten Island. However, I've decided to hire a third party car inspection company.

We'll want pictures of course. And unless you like spending a lifetime fixing a car, having one delivered is best. If that makes any sense?

Nice!...congrats to you! just wanted to share this with you, I know it has nothing to do with your car.I would be in the same position to get the car of my first automotive obsession a 75 Charger, too costly to restore on my own..and lack of know how, but who sinks money into 1975 Dodge Charger's? :smt017 ...I don't think very many get restored but I'd love to have one. This is one I found on flicker and the owner allowed me to share pics. Mine was all silver with a burgendy top and interior. The guy made this one stunning IMHO...with the two tone black and silver along all 18 feet!
I wish for this car :smt007

1976. 305 V8. It does NOT have power brakes, which will take some getting used to...

I've forgot what it is like to drive a car without power breaks and steering. Have fun with the car.

Brakes are easy to upgrade, lots of kits available. I assume the 305 has a 2bbl, a small 4bbl would probably get better gas mileage. Hey it's your money, I can spend it any way I like.

Enjoy it and drive it. Cars only belong in garages at night.

the inspection and sales info claim it has power brakes. It sure takes a lot more effort to brake than my Vue! But it's also a heavier, more powerful car too. MarkB

I used a '77 Nova as a donor for the '47 Chevy and it has power brakes, disks front - drums back. The rotors are steel and heavy. If power assist it will have a booster on the firewall before the master cylinder.

The power booster is a big usually black large round thing that the master cylinder bolts too on the left side of the firewall. It runs off vacuum created by the motor. Several things can cause you to not have power brakes on a car with power brakes. The booster could be bad, a vacuum leak from a cracked or unhooked hose or simply not having it hooked up and large manifold leaks. A large non hydraulic cam in the engine can make the engine create very little vacuum that can give you problems also but if it's a 305 i doubt that would be the case. Keep in mind that power brakes that aren't working properly will usually feel harder than manual brakes so if the pedal isn't too bad to push but just not as easy as your newer car might be working just fine. If you need two feet or are pushing yourself back into the seat have them looked at. Nice looking car but we need more pictures!

so, what's the best way to clean my new beauty? There's no way in hell I am going to a drive-through car wash. Go to a "detailing" place (that sounds pricey!).

I may have missed this in the thread but if you are going to restore in hopes of it increasing in value I would say look for another one, since it appears the sunroof is aftermarket and that kills the value but I'm no expert, just hear a lot about everything needing to be original to get top dollar. Also, if aftermarket and leaks you may not be able to get parts since it's probably been 20-30 years since it was purchased. Just my 2 cents

I stopped by today and he sold it. Talked to the buyer. He said he paid $1,000 for it. They were trying to get it started.

Willsoda, thanks. I wondered about the sunroof.
