No monsters this time but plenty of meat for the pan. One of my favorite fishing spots revealed to any fellow Wisconites- it has a spectacular view of WI's Capitol peeking around the point at 4 a.m. horrible picture though. Bjorn

My Catch From Sunday

#489

Post by canaddict »

Caught some nice keepers on Sunday about 40 miles off of Sarasota in 110 foot of water.

To give it perspective, the snapper were about 14 inches. Grouper much bigger. Overall, we probably caught about 50 fish that day. Some nice Amberjacks, Triggerfish, Gag's (which we had to release), etc.

If anyone is visiting Sarasota, be sure to look me up and we will get out there and catch some fish.

The bite has been good offshore. Was trying to get out yesterday before the front moved in, but didn't make it. Maybe next week.

Wow no hard water in WISCONSIN this time of yr.. Nice catch Hover the toothy guy slayer ... Soon we will be seeing flattop with Reds and tarpon in the warmth . No FLA trip for me this yr :-( ... I bought a new weapon for the STEEL and creeks - Center Pin. Have had a few days out since super bowl Sunday - my 1st on the pin, not a bad male and then only a few little punks since but fun. 1st- Image...
Super bowl sunrise Image

Little fresh steel Image ( his dorsal fin is clipped , thus a stockie ).
Check this one with a dorsal fin , is he a wild one ? Image- is it a natural reproduction fish ?

Got out today to do a little pre-fishing for a tournament in 10 days. Since I haven't fished the area the tournament is in, in about 8 months I was just hoping to find fish. Didn't find many, but found a few and got this nice Redfish. Hope I can find them again on tournament day. A couple like this and a trout would go a long way for us.

My buddy Nate and I fished The Salty Fly tournament again this year. The Salty Fly is the largest saltwater fly fishing tournament in the country. 100 2 man teams fishing for total inches of 2 redfish and 1 trout, and largest snook. Many of the best fly fisherman in the country fish this tournament. Nate and I fish it for the shirt, beer, and raffle after the tournament. And we are nowhere near the top 10,000 fly fisherman in the country, but we can fish.

We had a tough day finding the reds, but Nate did get this nice 29 1/2" snook that landed us biggest snook. For the snook we won a nice yeti cooler and a nautilus fly reel. And I won a simm's boat bag in the raffle.

Plus while kb was fishing in 24 degree weather we were wet wading in Florida.

That's pretty sweet Chuck - congrats , cool winning the YETI!! It would be something to hit one of ur 3 fish on the fly rod... Yeah had to hurt walking out into the water ... We went out yesterday in 40 degree and light rain =miserable .. But while off and put water can be ice we had to .. Only 2 hrs on the upper niagara and got a little laker and a cool fresh trout .. So 1 day we drive an hour to fish the lower off Lake Ontario and then next day a easy 25 min drive to fish the upper right at end of Lake Erie - we do have a nice fishery up north .. ImageImage
