Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
The Irish Dr. Zauis (sp?) is unintentionally hideous and deserves the crown. Brown Note is trying too hard...

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
I didn't think the point was to award the most disgusting, vomit inducing can design. If that can wins, as an officer I vote that the brewery is getting a plaque with that can engraved on it.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
I think disgusting and vomit inducing fit neatly within the general rubric of 'ugliest'.
I grew fond of certain cans along the way... I had to keep reminding myself to vote for the ones I really truly hate.

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
Brown Note always had a leg up in this contest, but like Al said, it was made to horrify everyone who saw it. It was made to win the Rusty Bunch Ugly Can championship.
I have voted for it in past rounds, but I vote against it today on principle.
You guys who nominated and voted for Poth's: I am happy to help you with your shelf-beautification goals. Send those ugly things my way. I'll keep them in a dark basement with the door locked.

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
Personally, I do not think either of them is the ugliest can in the tournament but until I can take over this site via a military coup, establish a dictatorship, and force all of you to abide to my every order, this democratic system will need to suffice.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
The Brown Note is doing a joke from South Park, and almost HAS to be a little gross so that people will "get" the name and possibly understand the joke they were trying to make. My two cents, I think it says a lot about how the bar of good taste has been lowered in the world that this can even gets made. After all, gross and disgusting or not, the object is to catch beer drinker's eyes on very crowded modern shelves and entice them to buy a four or a six. Grossing people out is a risky gamble to accomplish this. Do you want to be seen at the register buying this? The cashier and the customers behind you seeing you buying that and giving you "that look"?
On the other hand, the Fighting Irish can wasn't intentionally trying to be gross. It was just an ugly can. I think it's great that we can look back at the 70's and 80's and laugh at some of the ugly and tacky cans from that time (hell, for TRUE ugliness, nothing beats generics).
This has been a fun tournament, and I hope we do it again one day, with a fresh group of ugly cans.

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
Totally agree with others, Brown Note was intentionally ugly so doesn't really fit what I was thinking for this contest. But what do I know, I don't think any of my nominees got out of the first round and I might have pissed off that Altes guy.
Fighting Irish is more than worthy but looks like it may fall short.

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
The Fighting Irish represents ugliness not only for its appearance - it's one of many hundreds of cans made specifically to sell to collectors rather than to hold beer, which pretty much killed the collecting of currents.

Re: THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
Right, there are no 1930's cans that are truly ugly. Plain perhaps, but not ugly.
