Pics of my soda collection

#1

Post by Rustmonger »

This is a little less than half of my soda cans but all I have room for on the walls. The rest are mostly just variations anyway (I have an entire tote of Penguins alone) but this shows most of the main labels. I've been saving these for probably five years now and will save almost any minor variation for now. I only have one rule with the collection, I have to personally dig every can. No buying, no trading, and not even any freebies. Since I'm pressed for space I'm a stickler for the "gotta' dig it" rule which is rough when the guy next to me digs something cool and just leaves it. Sooner or later I'll ended up finding whatever can it happened to be and it makes it even sweeter. I know nothing at all about soda cans so I don't even know what's common and what's rare so I'm equally excited every time I find a can I don't have. That's the thing that really makes it fun for me. :pottytrain5: :pottytrain5: :pottytrain5:

Soda cans are so colorful. I have to say after 5 yrs you should know what is a tough label and what is common one. NO?

Thanks,

I didn't see that first Wadbaums orange flavor in the book, assume that's a tough one. LEON.

Nice group of cans. The Walbaums orange is not listed. Do the Key cans have zip codes listed on them? The cream, grape and orange are unlisted if they are pre-zip code.
You have really found some very tough labels. Don't see some of these at all!

Yea Dave, the Key cans are all pre-zip code (is that like the IRTP of soda collecting?). We find them pretty regularly. In addition to the Snow Peak Orange I also have Key Grape and Key Orange in my totes if you want 'em. Just PM me your address and I'll get a box out to you. The Snow Peak is real nice and the Keys display great but both have blown out seams on them, I don't know if that's a problem for you or not. I also have another Key Orange with the seam intact but it doesn't display near as well. I'm almost positive I had another of those Walbaums but I bet I tossed it. If it's the can I'm thinking of it was rough. We're heading to a BIG soda can dump next Saturday in Upstate NY so I'll bring home a bunch of stuff then. Thanks for the comments on the collection, I have a lot of fun with it. There's very little mystery to beer cans anymore but the soda cans seem like the good old days when everything was new and exciting. Love it!

The Bala Club and Linden House cans are also very tough cans - the Bala Club has a very small population - maybe 3-4.
Nothing else really jumps out. Does your Pabst can have the large mira seam logo on the side between the two labels? that is a tougher can as well.
