One of a kind soda cans

#1

Post by dtsoc »

Hey,
Would it be ok to start a one-of-a-kind soda can thread? If pictures are posted, we could actually get a better handle on this. I don't have the most up-to-date list, but I will bet that it will be available shortly.

Here is a zip code can I just picked up off ebay... N80-25a
Image

Here is another recent find (Prezip) C420-0
Image

Here is another posted recently in another thread (10 oz - imitation orange soda on lid) A60-01
Image

The reference numbers originated with the Paul, Karen and Tom Bates books in the 1980's and are continued in Collectible Soda Cans.
Happy Hunting!

Alaska Chris sent me a set of those Nehi's a couple years ago. One was a 3 brown stripe root beer, but does not have the 12 fluid oz statement on the bottom like yours. Is that what makes your Nehi unique?
I'm assuming we're talking flat tops here...

Hi,
The front wording is what makes this generation tough. It's also a zip code can - other than the offgrade orange listed in the advertising posts, there are no other zip code examples of these known so far. Most of prezip cans are incredibly common - some of the odd flavors are very, very tough though.
This can is a silver juice tab.

Hi Leon,
Until someone says they have another one, I believe it does. Would you be able to post a pic of the reverse?
Thanks,
Dave

Notice the top of the UpTown: "TWO GLASSFULS"
That ain't no proper grammar, or is it?
Any other examples of bad grammar on cans in your collections?!?! (Thread hijack alert!)
And I will have the Nehi set checked. I gave it to a fellow collector as a birthday gift about a year ago. D'oh!

Thread high jack attempt noted! A lot of early cans say 2 full glasses. I have never this this one before though!

Sometimes, the rarest varieties hide in plain site!
How about a Nehi lemonade in the 3 stripes design?

Danny,

I think soda cans should have there own index, just like we have one for fantasy football and such. Soda cans are becoming more and more collectable to beer can collectors every year. I am always keeping soda cans when I am out digging for beer cans.

i think a soda can section would be great! i am starting to keep all soda cans i dig and dave seems like a great reference for us beer can guys. and while we are on the subject of soda cans, are the sweet life soda cans tough, semi tough or just plain common. a few years ago i dug five different ones in a dump in the catskills. i sold them for $5 apiece to a soda collector then a few weeks later i see them on his website claiming " his latest find".

AG
I have had the great privilege of dumping with 68 current and former Rusty Bunch members, to date. Got to hit the woods of Virginia with Charlie Smigo recently.

This is a great place to help Dave Tanner expand the world of soda cans. How many of us active diggers save nice soda cans when we find them? Most of mine are in the garage and some of the nicer ones are in the man cave.
