Re: Faygo Collector on Detroit News Station
Follow up on the Faygo 1st generation cans. Outside of Leon's find of the seven BC in this post, there only appear to be a very limited additional examples. The rootbeer was identified in the Bates book, but not pictured. It was originally owned by Kevin Garrity of Ft. Worth, TX. The BC pictured in the Bates book looks pretty clean and may be on-grade, but the picture is black and only shows the front face. I am not aware of what happened to these cans over time. Here is the can that just sold on EBay. This is the nicest I've seen available.
My three questions are:
1) Does an on-grade BC really exist in a collection? I went back in my pre-2007 notes when the book first came out and couldn't find a reference as to why it was listed as an R2.
2) How many root beers are in collections? I know of 3, all dumpers. There haven't been many references to this can over the years.
3) Is there an evidence that other flavors may exist?

I collect one flavor of rare soda can generations. Also publish Collectible Soda Cans - don't hesitate to contact me with cans you have available or questions about old soda cans.

Re: Faygo Collector on Detroit News Station
Dave, those are the same 3 question I have & don't know the answers. I was watching that FAYGO B.C. on ebay all week. Wondered what high bid would be. I think my B.C. in my collection & the one I sold to, I think a Kotterman Bros. was about the same grade/shape as that ebay can. LEON.
P.S. I never seen a nice indoor of the B.C. or R.B.

Re: Faygo Collector on Detroit News Station
Hi Leon,
Thanks for sharing that. Really interesting back story! I’m a little surprised at how little it sold for given the history of what’s been available.
