Photo fun...Crush Grapefruit

Post by Canadacan »

This is a style of photo I have used on several bottles before, but today I decided to try it with one of my favorite cans from my New Years day haul.
It's basically done in almost all natural light...it was tricky with the metal reflections going on, it could use a little more clarity but this is simply from my phone, I may have to try it out with the other camera to see if I can get better results.

3 comments from the USBC Digital Supplement project:
- it is damn hard to get the reflections out of the picture. Try shooting thru a piece of white cardboard that has a hol only large enough for the lens.
- depending on your phone, the picture quality may be better than any camera. The newest iPhones are supposed to have a higher quality than all but the best (most expensive) cameras.
- the colors of some cans will change with the lighting. Brighter light is always better. Be consistent and you will avoid problems.

Good luck.

@Uncle Jackson
Thank you for that....I'm going to try the white carboard. I suppose this was more of an artistic flare and I wouldn't use this background to document a can.
Your probably right about the camera too :)

All that he said, but that is a nice picture...or a nice picture of a nice can....whatever. I like the matching green border and the black background. Now, that background may not work for other cans, but it did for this one.
